Looks like WBAP will be doing live election coverage and dumping syndicated talk shows for tonight. The question is how bad will Gavin mess up the coverage on KRLD?

how 'bout some of that dead air that is new, edgy, innovative, clever, that they use so much on RMS ;D
Ben and Skin would have been an improvement over what I heard. On the way home, the KRLD anchor had John Cornyn leading 72% to 43% (huh?), while Mark Davis over at WBAP pronounced that the sight of "hundreds of thousands" (overkill) of Obama supporters at Grant Park might "make your skin crawl." Nothing like a biased talk show host anchoring your "news" coverage.
Later, after Obama's acceptance speech, Ernie and Jay were breaking down the results from Nevada and thought that McCain might make inroads in that state since "liberal" Clark County was counted first. Did they not listen to the McCain and Obama speeches they just aired? In denial much?
It's a shame a market this size doesn't have a real news station.

We do have a real news station in WBAP. It's just that some folks don't know truth when they're slapped aside the head with it.
I don't like Mark Davis personally but I like his message. WBAP is a conservative bright spot in a sea of media liberalism, oft awash with 15-second sound bits that fail to educate the masses.

Mark Davis used his whole "coverage" angle last evening more as a whiners box about "his party" losing the white house and congressional seats, he played more a bitter little man than a mature adult behind the mic, which makes him no better than the o'rileys and obermanns of the world. More and more every day I wonder why citadel doesnt cut davis and bring in some fresh blood...

Not a post to comment on coverage.....after 22 months....I was pretty tired of the whole thing. More a question for Slambang......IF Citadel cut Davis.....as is your wish......and bring in "fresh blood"......who exactly have you heard ANYWHERE that could bring in the same things to WBAP that Davis already does??? Sometimes it is better to do battle with the enemy you know....rather than the unknown. IMHO

In all seriousness, maybe its time we get someone behind the mic that isnt so abrasive when it comes to their party beliefs. Mark has been a total cheerleader for the redneck thought process that put and kept George Bush in office. Its the same thought process that still has 22% of morons polled in a recent UT-Austin survey thinking Obama is a practicing musilm (sic?) and the same thought process that thinks the concept of "eliteism" is a bad thing. Its also the same mentality that if you told the sky was orange and marshmellows fell from the sky, they'd believe you.
All this being said: Id prefer a host who can carry a show, but doesnt preach their doctrine to you day in and day out...

Slambang, I think there are hosts that have a voice of respect and don't talk down to their listeners. They're all on KLIF, and look what it's done to their ratings.

If you don't care for Davis et al, don't listen. I think Citadel's in it for the money, and if 'BAP could make more money with "respectful" hosts, or with liberal ones, they'd dump their lineup in a minute. And as a conservative, I happen to think that's the way it should be.

Texas PR, I agree with ya on your views and I dont consider myself a regular Davis or 'BAP listener, save for hockey. I guess id rather hear someone of the quality of a jeff ward(590 KLBJ) on the local airwaves. Ive found myself many times in this now-passed political season tuning into his show on the web, as it became an truly welcomed respite from what was being pushed here in Dallas. I found that alot of the shows on 'BAP have become more about the right-tilting bully pulpit than talking about the real issues.
Slam, you and I can def. agree on that bully pulpit. I'm not familiar with Ward on KLBJ. Guess I'll have to check him out.
