The elections were good for many Talk stations in the ten largest markets. And Hurricane Sandy, while destructive for many in the NYC area, gave a big boost to the Big Apple's All-News stations.
Here's a look at the Nov. 12 ratings for All-News stations.
1. NYC....WCBS #4....WINS #5 tie
2. Los Angeles....KNX #9 tie
3. Chicago....WBBM/WCFS(FM) #1 tie
4. San Francisco....KCBS/KFRC(FM) #3....KGO* #12 tie
5. Dallas....KRLD* #17 tie
6. Houston....KROI(FM) #23 tie
7. Washington....WTOP(FM) #2....WNEW-FM did not report its ratings.
8. Philadelphia....KYW #1
9. Atlanta....WYAY #19
10. Boston....WBZ* #3 tie
* denotes a part-time News station. Note that KROI, WNEW-FM and WYAY are still relatively new to the All-News format. Among established All-News stations, only KRLD Dallas failed to make the top 10.

Here's a look at the Nov. 12 ratings for large market Talk stations that scored at least a one-share.
1. NYC....WABC #11....WOR #19
2. LA....KFI #2....KABC #28 tie
3. Chicago....WGN #3....WLS #5
4. San Francisco....KSFO #16 tie....KKSF #20 tie
5. Dallas....WBAP-AM-FM #6
6. Houston....KTRH #8
7. Washington....WMAL-AM-FM #7 tie
8. Philadelphia....WWIQ(FM) #10....WPHT #19 tie
9. Atlanta....WSB/WSBB(FM) #2
10. Boston....WRKO #12....WTKK(FM) #13
In the Oct. 12 ratings, only KFI, WGN, WLS and WSB made their city's top ten. This time, with the Presidential Election, WBAP, KTRH, WMAL and WWIQ also hit the top ten. WABC reached #11. WWIQ Philadelphia only signed on this past summer. It runs Rush, Hannity, Beck, all syndicated Conservative Talk except for a local morning show. Meanwhile CBS' WPHT employs local hosts most of the day and evening. But it had only half the ratings of the upstart.
While I didn't include the NPR stations, WAMU was #1 in Washington, KQED was #2 in San Francisco and WBUR was #9 in Boston.
