Election night: WRKO local till 3 am

WRKO insiders club says Howie's show will be extended till 9 pm on Tue., election day, followed
by three hours of Joe Battenfeld then Avi Nelson Mid-3 am

I'm guessing WTKK has McPhee normal hours or maybe extended; perhaps Hank Morse
after that? Maybe even Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'm Michael Graham chiming in? WBZ I'm sure has
Dan Rea then Leveille as usual.

WXKS? Is Katz coming in for extra hours at night?
WWZN--Santos coming in? who knows.

I, for one, like to listen to election results on the radio more so than TV, so I'm pleased to hear that some stations are stepping up to the plate.

TV News, in general, turns me off...no one particular station---all of them. Some of the anchors, especially, act almost childish or snobby at times. Their banter with the other anchors, and weather/sports people is often just plain silly. It's harder to get away with that nonsense on radio, because audio is the only thing in play.

I normally work nights and hearing results, etc. on radio is good (this yr I will be off on election night, though). On the night of Scott Brown's election, the talk stations did expanded coverage...
on WTKK McPhee's was more of a "victory party" deal for Brown, and she is expressing her
opinions rather than giving straight news--but there was one point where she screeched
"MICHAEL GRAHAM IS IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!" Ouch! Now, she's said on air she's deaf in one ear
I think so maybe I can excuse that, but... :)

RKO's plan sounds interesting and I'm sure the other stations will have stuff of their own,
though not sure about WXKS and WWZN. (And I would think WBUR or WGBH would have their
own coverage too...?)

Agreed about radio v. TV though some silliness can get on the radio, too of course! But you're
right, only audio there...tougher to get away with it

She probably figured, "an ear for an ear..." ::)

Thank goodness Rush in finally on a station where he won't be pre-empted in favor of inferior coverage. I just get more insight from Rushbo than from these other cheerleaders.

Let alone Red Sox baseball...

If votes are still being counted at that hour something not very savory is going on.

Jeff Katz announced on his facebook page that he will be live from 8p until "at least 11p" on 1200 WXKS.

Ever hear of the term "cliff hanger" when it comes to an election? Although not probable, it is POSSIBLE races will still be undecided until the early morning hours...some are so tight they wind up in a recount eventually. Besides, when races are decided, stations don't automatically switch back to regular programming right away.
Look at it like post-game programs after a sporting event is finished.

Radio is better for elections. The media bias toward democrats is difficult to disguise on TV. The unmittigated glee was overly apparent when Obama won. Brian Williams was positively giddy. I can only imagine what Keith Olberman was like.

We know what Chris Matthews was like, however. He said it himself.

Yes someone noticed on RKO site that it said Jennifer Brien. And it is. Maybe Avi is doing
a fill in for someone tomorrow instead? we'll see

I believe Williams and Olberman are both sitting shiva today, probably joined by Chris Matthews who didn't seem very happy when Michele Bachman, whom he was trying to bait, threw his notorious 'thrill running down my leg' quote back in his face.

Regards,
TSB

That Bachmann interview reminded me of the many times Opie & Anthony would coax a listener into disrupting a live shot of local news with a "WOW" sign... ::)
