One of the great things about medium/smaller markets is the hometown feel they place on special community events such as election nights. It’s not uncommon for a station in those smaller markets to read every race, every issue. Right down to dog catcher and liquor sales at a gas station.
Apparently those days are over at WHBC.
It’s a shame that Nextmedia has stripped WHBC-AM of its heritage as the voice of Stark County.
Stark county results were delayed and rather than staying on the air, they signed off and went into syndicated programming.
Meanwhile I was able to hear Stark County results on WCER! and WHLO.
I didn’t seem to mind I was able to pickup WCER well after sunset where I live. I got the info I was looking for so no biggie. They did a pretty decent job.
WCER Covered Stark
WHLO covered Summit, Stark and Portage.
WAKR Covered Summit, Medina, Portage.
WHBC-AM covered where the news anchor and co-host ate dinner.
You stay classy, Ron Ponder.
