Election radio talk

With the Presidential debates going on all this year, will talk radio's numbers grow? WHAS has Rush, WGTK has Bennett, Laura, Miller, Medved, Hewit, Prager, WKJK has Sean. Will we see there ratings go up?

I SURE WISH WE HAD JOE ELLIOTT TO TALK ABOUT THE LITTLE THING IN NOVEMBER THANKS SO MUCH CLEAR CHANNEL!!!I THINK THERE RATINGS WILL GO UP KINDA LIKE THE 24/7 CHRISTMAS STATIONS THEY GET A HUGE SPIKE IN THERE RATINGS. I HOPE SOMEONE BRINGS SOME LIBERAL TALK THIS YEAR IT WOULD BE NICE TO HERE DIFFERING POINTS OF VIEW.

Liberals have points?

I wonder who the Dixie Highway republicans will vote for? The mormon? Jesus boy? Looks like Obama will be the leader of the free world. That's gonna upset the dixie flag wavers.

Yes whokilledradio well probably both parties did with clinton signing the telecommunications act of 1996 but i digress i like hearing differing points of view while i do not agree with rush at all the man is great at what he does like in 1998 with the whole monica thing he would mock carville and ken starr it was to funny but i do like hearing both points of view in fact it may surprise you i kinda like huckabee he is not your typical tax cuts day noon and night 24/7 republican. He critisized mr bushes foreign policy calling it arrogant.  ;D

Which as we all know clinton was arrogant but mr bush is the most arrogant man in my lifetime in 1600 penn.

It doesn't even have to be a whole liberal talk station one or two shows get stephanie miller and ed schultz excellent liberal talk show hosts who get good numbers!!!

Well, I don't want to turn this into a us vs. them forum but the failure of AirAmerica to rise above the right tells me there isn't an audience for it. Besides you got NPR. Please check your facts on the Huckabee statement. It was taken out of context. The war in Iraq should have never happened until business was finished in Afghanistan but we can't turn back time. And if Im not mistaken thats exaclty what Obama said he would do after his win in Iowa. Bring the troops home from Iraq and finish what we started in Afghanistan. Either way we have troops killing terrorist on there soil and not in our backyard. Thank God! I don't need anything else to bring down the property value.

don't go blaming the low ratings of liberal talk radio on its format. in more cases than not, it was the fact that the radio stations themselves did an extremely poor job of promotions or marketing or both of those stations. last year clear channel flipped its three liberal talk stations in ohio. and you know what? all of those stations went from being in the top 20 in their markets to OFF THE LIST. none of those stations have seen a return to those levels of listenership since the flip. zero. in san diego clear channel flipped klsd from liberal talk to become san diego's third or fourth sports station. there were several rallies to save klsd from flipping and it didn't work out. those are just the major examples. i wonder if that each of those stations were owned by clear channel had anything to do with it.

if promoted and marketed correctly, liberal talk radio can work in any market on any station. the problem is that there are very few stations that want to invest the time and money to actually do that. louisville is a liberal city, i think that liberal talk radio can work here, but i wonder if any major or local radio companies will take that chance.

Whokilledradio please please for the love of god do not tell me you believe that republican lie fighting them over there so we do not have to fight them here my favorite republican lie there are quite a few to choose from. That worked really well for the brits back in 2005 when there subway got attacked i believe they were part of the coalition of the willing. Whether we are in iraq or not they will not follow us here please please such a lie just one of many from junior and uncle dick!!!Explain to me if our side can't do radio why ed schultz and stephanie miller alan colmes do well?

For the most part in my opinion any format can work anywhere if marketed and executed correctly this is why i do not understand why people tell me alternative can't sell in louisville and i suppose you will say the same thing about liberal talk. We did use to have liberal talk in the ville. In the 90s alan colmes on 790 wwky and denton randell morning show on 790.

As with most business it is location location location with radio it is marketing marketing marketing promotion promotion promotion. This is something some stations just don't get for some reason.

I predict WGTK will rise to a 3.0 before the year is over b/c of there conservative presidential election coverage. Only IF they do not get sold and flip. If WKJK flipped to Air America do you guys think they would rise in the ratings?

Never gonna happen with kjk they do well in revenue with selling people airtime like big talk on small business and the like. They would have to pay for air america which is why they don't have much in the way of big names aside from hannity and ramsey and they rerun ramsey at night!!!

'GTK Ran IOWA CAUCUS coverage... both DEMS and GOP ran in that... Listen for MORE "Election Night Coverage" through the primary season AND in November... Maybe during the conventions as well!

Well HP Like I said, I don't want to turn this into a political forum. Yes the Brits do have a problem with Muslium extreamest
that they have yet (to my knowlefge) take seriously. Here, we know we have people in this country willing to do the same thing in our Subways but I hope that by listening in on phone calls via wire taps that dems oppose and by interrogating capurted terrorists (another thing Dems are against) we can stop an attack. Will we get hit again? Sure. Chances are it will be another big one and a Dem will be in office and they will blame it on Bush for creating hated for us around the world. All I know is maybe by cracking down and busting some heads over there we will not get hit here. I do know one thing for sure, people willing to blow themselves up over their crazy religion will do it in a roomful of Dems or Reps. They don't care. But, chances are a few Rep might be carrying guns and could take out that terrorist. If they could get past the Dems who want to put flowers in their turbans and "talk about it." Now, lets get back to fighting over what format sucks.

Whokilledradio we can agree that louisville radio needs a extreme makeover not so much politics but i will say even though wgtk is not my point of view i think it is a decent talk station for what it is they should get joe elliott to do a talk show add a little local flavor. As hot 104 use to say home of the new flava well gtk could say home of your cup of joe. I know it is only jan 6 in the ville but is any of these suits gonna tweak flip blowup any format i am getting impatient? How long will it take mainline to start implementing there results of what they found???

I haven't listened to Savage since he was on WGTK years ago. I never liked him & thought he was full of crap. Sometimes he says things we're all thinking but affraid to say but many times he comes off as a racist hatemonger. I'm all for common sense talk be it left or right. Host who see things only from the left or right and find no flaws in their party are pretty boring. Thats why I like most but not all of GTK's lineup. Ingram, Miller & Medved are great. Bennett (zzzzzz), Gallagher (Rush wannabe & just plain bad), Prager (zzzzz interesting zzzzz) and I liked Hewitt alot but haven't listened in about a year. They used to have an overnight show (David something) that was kinda interesting but I'm not sure why he ws dropped. I guess so they can run 6 hours of Gallagher overnight.

This is a smart move by WGTK. I am sure several people would rather hear live Election Night Coverage over a delayed broadcast of Mike Savage on WHAS. I know that Rusty Humpheries is live from 9pm-midnight Eastern. I wonder if his live show would be a great show for WGTK to go against Mike Savage on WHAS. He is not a Salem host, but it may be a chance for WGTK to receive a greater slice of the pie.
