Electro-pop on a hip hop station

I was checking out Hot 104-1 in St. Louis and they were mixing for the 4th of July. They were doing the usual hip hop and r&b, but what surprised me was they did a mix of nothing but electro-pop. Any other true hip hop stations doing this?

WBLX down here in Mobile mixes sometimes an hour straight of nothing but EDM music @11pm Mon-Fri. I guess this is some urban stations way of competing in the ppm era.

Unfortunately, a majority of Rhythmics are embracing the electro-pop genre. Yes, its because of the PPM but at the same time can be due to the changing taste in today's listeners. BTW both the Rhythmic charts at BDS and Mediabase are reflecting that, which explains why Hip-Hop is getting less spins at radio.

I really haven't noticed it here in Dallas/Ft. Worth, but I would guess that's due to the fact that we now have 3 CHRs covering that style of music.

"Unfortunately?" I thought that this was always the norm with Top 40 AND Rhythmics - to include cross over stuff. "Urban" would be a different story.

There's an "urban" sounding station in Washington DC that plays electro-pop. I would consider them "rhythmic."
