Electronics/parts stores- '50s to '70s

If you were in broadcast, Ham/SWL, Hi-FI, or pirate, these may be where you went for parts and equipment...
Need an 807 buffer or 6L6?, Delta Tubes and ACRO Sales usually had 'em. West on University, was Telrad. On E.C. Blvd, Triple E Distributers/Dow had Ham gear
and parts. Jones Surplus on Market had tons of surplus. HeathKit in Grossmont, Lafayette;Island St. and Msn. Bay Dr.. India St. had Western
Radio and Silvergate Electronics. Wright's House of Hi Fi, San Diego Audio, Eric the Red's ,and Pacific Stereo made sure I was broke.
Not content to spend all of my cash in San Diego, I'd head north to Dixie Hi Fi, Costa Mesa. Henry Radio on Euclid. Then to Mission Electronics in Riverside, and a quick stop to Cal Stereo in San Bernardino.
Let us know about your favorite "Candy" stores :)

I lived in Chula Vista and there was some place down on Main Street in Otay that had a large stash of old tubes, but mostly we went to the Value Village thrift store and scavenged old TV chassis' for tubes, transformers, etc. (we'd even remove old caps and resistors to use in projects). For anything more than that, we joined MARS and got some cool free gear from the surplus stash at March AFB (man some of that stuff is worth a bundle now). A couple of operated the Civil Defense radio system located in a back room at the police department and found couple of nice 2-meter Gonset Communicators there (I can't remember if we ever took them back...). By the way, if anyone needs one, I think I still have a couple of nice 6146's.
