ELLIE GOULDING- LIGHTS

Any thoughts on its chances now that it has reached the top 40? I have been a huge fan of this song for a year now, and I especially like the Bassnectar remix, but I imagine it will only have limited impact at CHR.

I could see the rhythmic friendly CHRs pick up the remix for lunch time mixes and other mixes, though.

In Los Angeles, I've only heard it on KAMP and KBIG. The former is playing a remix other than the Bassnectar remix, and the latter was playing the regular version a few months ago, but I haven't heard it recently.

Here, WFLY/92.3 and WAJZ/Jamz 963 both play the Bassnectar version (the former originally played the album version, which is now only heard on WYJB/B95 AFAIK) :)

I think its a comforting sign that a great song can take a long time to build, but still do well across several formats, despite being from a relatively unknown artist with limited exposure to an American audience. Beside her appearance on Saturday Night Live in May 2011 (the Tina Fey hosted episode), where she performed the song, most Americans probably hadn't heard of her.

My first exposure to Ellie Goulding was her version of Elton John's "Your Song" that got airplay on a local small-town full-service AC station. I found it okay, but not great. Then "Lights" hit and nearly blew me away. I'm not surprised that the song has crossed over to Alternative somewhat - I actually thought she was a Triple-A artist at first based on the sound of the Elton John cover. It also sounds somewhat like the kind of left-field song Alternative radio would have embraced in the late '90s.

I've this this song on a few stations in the Tulsa market alone. -_- 92.1 The Beat Overplays it. 106.9 K-Hits kills it, and if I'm not mistaken I've heard Z104.5 the Edge (an Alternative station, might I add) play Lights at least once.
