Elvis Duran to Q102

Michael Klein from the Philadelphia Inquirer called The Radio Racket just moments ago with an exclusive: He hears a "hot rumor" that the recently ousted Booker will be replaced with Elvis Duran and the Morning Zoo, syndicated out of New York's WHTZ, and also simulcast on WHYI in Miami.

Klein will have more about this development in his next column this weekend.

Elvis Duran is also simulcasted in The Pocono's/Northwestern New Jersey at WHCY-Max 106.3 out of Blairstown,NJ for those coming into the city, from East Stroudsburg, Sussex County Area.

If they were bringing in Elvis Duran, why wouldn't they have said so when they fired Booker, instead of "we're looking for options" and "for now, it's more music." Why not just do it right away?

BTW, Elvis Duran was Q-102's first Program Director (or was it Music Director?) when the station launched as a Top 40/Dance station in the 80s.

It will be interesting if CC brings in Elvis on Q102 and Elliot Segal on WRFF. Elliot was Elvis's second banana on the Z Morning Zoo before leaving for his own show at DC-101.

Elvis has been saying on the show that an announcement is comming soon about the show comming to another market. He`s been saying it for 2-3 weeks now.

I don't like this. NYC and Philly are too close for the same morning show! I was surprised to hear them in Miami.
This is how Clear Channel cuts costs, fire a local morning show and put in their own syndicated show.

Less local, more national, come on. Philly radio should not exist if all the local programming on the radio stations go away.

The Z100 Morning show is great radio. Why wouldn't Q102 want to simulcast it? They have great guests, great features, and a fun show. It's a no brainer

In an article originally published Sunday, Michael Klein writes:
Booker is still under contract, so he will be paid for his remaining year. His replacement might be the syndicated Elvis Duran, who hosts the Z Morning Zoo on New York's Z-100, also a Clear Channel station. Duran spent a year at Q102 in 1989-90...http://www.philly.com/inquirer/columnists/michael_klein/20080525_Inqlings__Nutter_to_welcome__Sex__in_this_city.html

Meanwhile, competing media columnist Dan Gross says Q102 will program "only music" until "programming options" are being considered...
