Is coverage of the King's death a big deal on Elvis Radio?? Always wondered...

Yup.

They were live for the entire day yesterday, gave away T-shirts and really cool hats, had the Sirius people in-town set up, and just generally had a big time.

As usual, the jocks are pretty much free to do as they want. They interviewed fans and passing Elvi, and generally laughed at the passing Yankees sweating in the Southern heat.

Okay, am I the only one who finds it a bit funny, that "DeadElvis" replied here, and knew exactly the goings on at Graceland on death day?

DE, move the rope, and let the Radio-Info guys come upstairs, we'll pay for the tour...

When an all Orson Welles discussion starts on this board, I am so there... CFKane

Oh, it's far more ironic than you know. I'll leave it at that. :)

I also like to watch passing yankees sweat in the southern heat. I wish I could have been there.

Now that it's behind us, I can take a second and give props to Doc Walker who recorded hours and hours of interviews with everyone from Jordanaires to Jerry Schilling, and turned them into hour-long specials. George Klein interviewed Priscilla's parents live from Graceland Plaza, and the station pulled an all nighter covering the candlelight vigil. I even had John Long, PD of WHBQ in 1977, talking about how the Q handled the events of August 16th.

I know we rolled some DATs on some of the shows as a backup. Let me see if they still exist.

Dang! I wish I had known. Was he in town? Wouldn't mind hearing that.
