EMF buys KMCQ

Other than the Callsign or branding, every Right Wing Ultra Conservative carrying station is that already....

If you dont agree with them, they hate you!! and just push more and more hate on a daily basis.

K-HATE wouldn't be a talk outlet, it would be a radio station constructed only to mess with K-LOVE ;) First song played: "Running with the Devil"

It's a very wise use of finances.

So, you do not consider 1090 KPTK in it's 'progressive' days hate radio? I found them to be just as equally repugnant as their transmitter buddy 770 KTTH.

I'm with you there; they're all bad! Not to mention, its completely and utterly ironic that 770 and 1090 are (duplexed?) (combined?)

After I win the lotto, i'm going to start my own radio station, "K-HATE"

As you get older, you'll realize how strong of a word "hate" really is.

If you truly feel as passionate about EMF in real life as you do behind the keyboard, I encourage you to petition the Commission on this sale.

As far as the audio, Optimods are easy to make sound good. Any idea what they have? Could be stereo tools, which takes a very good understanding on how to adjust audio processing. Optimods can be very plug and play. I don't play with Omina but I know who is running the latest box in Seattle. I would say KMCQ is running something that does not have good presets or they are not using them. Usually you can find a preset on the audio processor and go from there.

I suspect the concerns over KMCQ's sound have little to do with audio processing, but the program path. GIGO rules would be in effect: (Garbage In Garbage Out). If one skimps on a program path, whether that's trying to broadcast MP3 files through a Soundblaster audio card to poorly equalized phone lines, ISDN, or some old Marti STL system, sticking the most expensive and elaborate audio processor ahead or behind the poor program chain won't make it sound better. The best sounding stations with the best specs, also have the cleanest audio path. The file type of the audio, sound card type and settings, all the way to the audio processing, STL, exciter, and how the transmitter functions into the antenna, all play into the station sound. That's why I've had many station engineers and programmers ask me how they can duplicate the certain sound of a particular station. My answer is always the same: Duplicate the exact chain of equipment and settings as the station you're trying to duplicate. That's the only way.

FYI - Price For KMCQ/Seattle: $7 Million (from ALL ACCESS)

I have no Idea of the KMCQ set up, but have wondered. Being they need 1.49KW make their ERP, and the cost of rent, I wonder if they are in 1 rack. Maybe a wall or ceiling mount, just kidding.

Kelly, you snowed in? I barbecued yesterday!

We got about 4 inches of snow last week, cold rain today. I was telling Clay, who was also crowing about the warm winter in the PNW, that you guys will pay for it in the summer months when the reservoirs are all down. Did they even open the ski resorts this year? I may have to replace my two year old antenna on KXAA in CleElum this spring, so hopefully it won't be a wet one. The tower landlord added a bunch of microwave and cellular antennas with one of the crews bashed into my FM antenna, bending the Hell out of it.

I think all the ski resorts opened for a few days. They got some snow up there this weekend. But I doubt the KMCQ antenna iced up this round (gota stay in topic).

Madison Batt just re installed the VoV, KVSH-LP antenna and pole on the ole water tank (it kinda blew down, oops). Where I can see the water level of the main aquifer our local water district draws from. Top of the aquifer is about 490 feet down, I think the 3 wells go down around 700-800 feet. Their pumps draw around 52kw, that's alot of toilets flushing. I wonder if they keep holy water at EMF transmitter sites (see how I snuck the topic back).

Kelly - speaking of the KXAA site, who in the world was carrying Bible passages on 107.9 through Kittitas County this summer? I could hear them from west of Easton up onto the Manastash Ridge...and lost them afterwards. Sounded like it was off of Elk Heights and likely several kilowatts!

No clue Crainbebo. I haven't been paying that much attention since my days of driving over to Yakima to work on the former Clear Channel (now Townsquare) stations. According to the database, I agree with semoochie, what you're probably hearing is KHPE.

This wasn't KHPE. This was a very strong, LOCAL Kittitas County reception on 107.9. Heard it from Easton to Manastash Ridge this August, TWICE, and it was just a guy reading a bunch of bible passages. The only ID was "This is Logos - The Word of God." Logos is a Bible software, so maybe someone new is coming to 107.9 soon in Ellensburg? Testing? I've looked at the FCC and found no CPs for anyone on 107.9 in Kittitas County. And I'm not kidding...I actually heard this signal for several miles on I-90, strongest east of Cle Elum where KXAA is at.
The same signal was heard on 106.9, a little weaker and mostly in the Thorp/Ellensburg area. Not Grandview's KAWZ translator. ???

I didn't see any open allocations or stations for 107.9 in Ellensburg or Thorpe in the FCC database. Since I live mainly on the other side of the country, I can't comment on what you're hearing. For as much as you listen Crainbebo, you should be able to catch an ID somewhere near the TOH. That is assuming of course, it's a licensed station.

Here is a listing for all the licensed stations in the State of WA on 107.9Mhz:

I listened for several minutes when travelling through Ellensburg and the Kittitas Valley on 107.9, but even at TOH, no ID saying it was a testing station. Like I said, parallel to a 106.9 in the Ellensburg area that was obviously not Grandview WA's CSN.
Kelly - is there a chief engineer for KXAA-FM? Or even for KXLE-FM? I'd like to get in touch with them, and ask them about this 107.9. Not in FCC database. Not in local databases. Seems like I'm the only one whose ever reported it.

And potentially their only listener too!

I am technically the Chief Engineer for KXAA, along with being the guy who built it from a CP, and part owner. I'm not sure who the Chief at KXLE is. I don't believe I've ever met them.

The folks who would be probably the most interested in your discovery, are at KFFM (Townsquare) in Yakima. They have the most to lose from a pirate in that County vicinity. KXAA is at 100.3, so no harm, no foul for me.

Could it have been a 'talking house' FM part 15?

(A stretch, I know).

Just re-read the thread. Easton to Manastash ridge is probably too far for a part 15 to reach.

This move by Queen Cities to sell out is not positive and encouraging
