EMF doing another buying round for a new format?

Could EMF might wind up buying AM stations?

Not for a music format... they are smart operators and understand reality.

The only time that I know of that EMF has bought any AM stations is when they bought an FM station and they had to take some AMs as part of a deal, but then they would eventually sell them off. That happened in Memphis when they bought KSUD-FM 94.7 and had to take KSUD-AM 730 and WPLX 1170 as part of the deal. They both simulcasted K LOVE for a while but were eventually sold. 730 is now sports talk and 1170 has moved to 1180 and is part of the Guess FM group of stations in Memphis with a classic hits format and is being used to feed some of their FM translators.

Same happened in Greenville, Pennsylvania. EMF got 2 AMs attached to the FM they wanted. They simply simulcast on all frequencies and had buyers for the two AMs in a few months. In fact the AM price tag was quite low.

EMF is doing some moving of its 105.5 signal in the Phoenix area. I imagine once that's done, they'll put the "Classics" format on there (and Air1, whose main signal is a rimshot on the other side of the market, on HD2). There will be so much overlap between 89.1 and 105.5 once the move is complete, so this make sense.

My thought on Phoenix would be K-Love, the Air 1 would get a signal before the new classic format simply because these first two have proven track records of performance where the classics format is an upstart without a history of revenue records to justify it.

I wonder if "You Light Up My Life" would be played on the classic format? Now that's one I like and I just heard it on WNAM. I know it wasn't intended as a Christian song, but it has been played on Christian radio, like so many songs that could have a Christian meaning.

A few CCM artists (Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, etc.) had some crossover songs on secular stations, but I can't recall hearing Debby Boone's "You Light up My Life" on any CCM stations.

Well Mr. gr8oldies, I do have You Light Up My Life but have no intentions of playing it. Too sappy for my tastes. With that being said, I still play some of the some the 70s, 80s and 90s based tunes, on a daily basis, along with the newer tunes. (Larry Norman, Keith Green, Dallas Holm, Amy Grant, Smitty, Steven Curtis Chapman, DeGarmo & Key, Phil Keaggy, Petra, Styper, Twila Paris, Don Francisco, Bryan Duncan, Jacob's Trouble, White Heart, Steve Green, Susan Ashton, Michael Card, Rich Mullins, Gary Chapman, my musical hero Mr. Steve Camp, Bruce Carroll, 2nd Chapter Of Acts and Mylon LeFevre as some examples) I'm now mixing in the older SG songs, with the newer ones too. (By popular demand and request.) This mixing of the old with the new tunes is still working well for me and we've only had this all local Christian radio station, since 2017. Prior to that time, Christian radio in my hometown wasn't local at all. It was mostly repeaters and networks that did mostly talk and Preaching. Glad we now have more variety in the Christian radio department here. Excited to be a part of the growth that has taken place. This LPFM station is still a dream come true for me and I'm glad that God is still allowing me to keep it going.
