EMF Flips 94.5 and 106.3 to Worship

Air 1 as a CHR Christian rocker is history, as the entire network is now Worship-based music. I'd heard that a KLOVE Classics was in the works, but didn't see this coming. Air 1 was always on the edge as compared to KLOVE and during the Brad Hansen era Air 1 was pretty entertaining radio. In the last years, seems as if the gap between KLOVE and Air 1 had narrowed and Air 1 had lost its edge. Interesting that this change comes after Mike Novak's retirement as the EWF CEO. FYI - Mike was my PD at KYNO, a great guy, and one helluva programmer, and they owe Mike a ton of gratitude for the success that EWF has enjoyed. The new format seems to be a return to the first days of Contemporary Christian music and seems a step back.

Just a quick look at Air 1's Facebook page reveals not all are happy with the change. Having worked in Christian radio, all who complain don't exactly do so in the most Christian-like manner. I'd expect that Spirit 88.9, where Hansen's syndicated show resides locally, will pick up more than a few listeners.

I guess that's all for Fresno New Year's Day flips?

Interesting. What demos does "worship music" attract. If K-Love is the older white soccer Mom channel, and Air 1 was the younger white soccer Mom channel, Does that make the New Air1 and 55 and older channel?

94.5 WHERE ?? 94.5 in Hanford is Spanish. I sent my crystal ball out to be cleaned and I have no idea what you were thinking.

How long has it been since you ventured north of Fowlwr or Selma? Coarsegold's 94.5 has been on for several years now.

What is a "Christian-like manner" of saying "This new format sucks."?

Been about a year since I have been north of Fresno. I know about Coarsegold. But it would help if you spoke English and told all of us which 94.5 and 106.3 you were talking about ---- Please. At least give the town or calls.

K-LOVE Classics was an online experient. I don't think they ever intended to bring it to OTA stations.

To clarify though, this was not a single station flip rather a network syndication flip. All Air1 stations are now the new format.

Modesto K-Love Classics

Some of Modesto's EMF stations have re-organized:

Air 1 "The Worship Station" is now on 99.5 (K258AB/Modesto); it carried the main K-LOVE feed for many years.
K-LOVE Classics is now on 101.9 (K270BE/Modesto), fed by KLXF-HD3/Modesto. It previously carried Air1.
Both of those translators / metro stations have improved their signal in the last year or so.

The main K-LOVE feed is still available in Modesto on 90.5 KLXF, and 88.3 KLVN.

If I believe Wikipedia, K-LOVE Classics is now on almost 50 stations nationwide, a mix of full powers, HD subchannels, and translators.
