EMF Frequency Moves

According to the FCC's website, EMF has CP's for the following Air-1 stations: silent 91.9 will be back on the air at 92.7 with 250 watts. 103.7 is moving to the WKRK and WFHM tower in Warrensville Heights and upping the wattage from 5 to 29 watts. Both of these stations will relay one of WKDD's HD channels (Air-1).

EMF asked the FCC to delete the CP on 106.1. Maybe they can move that one up to the Willoughby/Mentor area?

I thought 103.7 was dead. So would both 92.7 and 103.7 relay Air 1? Maybe one of the two should move to 93.7 and give the station a bigger coverage in the Cleveland area.

Do you know what cites in the area will receive Air 1? I do find the music better than The Fish sometimes.

I would love to see another company pick up the 106.1 frequency and CP. Could be of good use.

103.7 is indeed off because they couldn't pick up an Air-1 station to relay since 91.9 was forced off. Both stations will relay the same WKDD HD channel, and I assume it will be Air-1 unless there is something else going on. The 92.7 signal should cover Cleveland and some of the west side based on the map I saw inside the application. The 103.7 signal will cover a big chunk of the eastern suburbs (Solon, Mayfield Heights, Beachwood, Maple Heights). There will be holes in coverage to the west and south of Cleveland and up into the Euclid area. There is CP by a different company for 93.7 in North Madison but I don't have a clue what's going on with them.

I picked up sister station K-Love in PA over the Memorial Day weekend. It was on 2 full power stations plus a possible repeater (on 105.7 in Johnstown).

I wonder if EMF has has any plans for some K-Love signals in Ohio?

KLove does have some full power signals in Ohio.. Closest to NE ohio is WLVX 107.1 which reaches Youngstown (I know its licensed to a city across the power in PA) .. They also have recently entered an agreement to purchase 101.9 WRBP which serves the Youngstown area.

One note: EMF seems to avoid full power signals in a lot of markets with established full power CCM competitors.

Maybe that's why they haven't bought full power signals in places like Columbus (104.9 The River) and Cleveland (95.5 The Fish). They still do the translators, of course.

That is true and that's what I have been told by multiple people in the business.. Houston has KSBJ (Though EMF just picked up a rim shot in that market) Orlando has WPOZ (#1 repeatedly in the PPMs), Dallas has KLTY, Nashville has The Fish and WayFM etc.. We do have a "translator" down here in Columbus owned by EMF (they picked up a translator when purchasing the former Cedarville Univ network "CDR Radio" a 10 watter that they recently moved from 88.3 to 99.3.. it runs Air1 though (the rest of the Cedarville network went KLove [except their Chillicothe station went with Air1 [Again a situation with a CCM in that market - in fact on the same tower EMF leases space on].

Some of it is the larger prices of stations in top 30ish and higher markets.

But if EMF wanted a full-power station in Columbus, well, there's been decent upgraded rimshots (102.5, 101.7, etc.) available to them. They missed out on 102.5, of course, and I'm not sure Runnymede is selling 101.7.

In Columbus, 102.5 is technically still for sale... WWCD (CD101 err 102.5) is still LMAing it... [Though rumors been floating around for 9 months or so that Salem would love to get their hands on it for "conserve talk"]

They could also go after 91.5 WHKC which is locally owned airing a lot preaching/talk type programming.

If EMF wanted 102.5, they'd have gotten it by now. They had the same shot Salem would have had. And theoretically, still can, if the Zanesville folks decide they want to outright sell the frequency.

Does Robb Case's widow still own 91.5? Has she shopped it around?

Yes she still owns it... not sure how she's paying to keep it on the air [I never hear businesses mentioned on air like most non coms and I never hear "beg-a-thons" unless all the "preaching" shows aired during the day on it are preachers "underwriting" their time on air... not sure if she ever will sell it since it was his dream to have that station on air.

Those shows have to be brokered.

If that's the case, she's likely in no hurry to sell it, being able to keep Robb's dream going easily, financially...

Is anyone close to the existing sites of 91.9 or 103.7 noticing any Air-1 programming on these frequencies? EMF notified the FCC in July that both stations have resumed operations at full power. I'm curious if they really returned at all, maybe a day?

I thought 92.7 or the new 103.7 would be on the air by now. Maybe CC is trying to get the 106.1 translator from EMF in exchange for placing Air-1 on WKDD HD2?

Perhaps the 106.1 translator should go to WMMS, so they can simulcast the 99X format to east side listeners who can't pick up 99.1. It would make sense, and if CC is able to increase watts from 39 to 250 with chances of covering eastern Cuyahoga along with western Lake and Geauga counties, then there would be more listeners for the station. To me, that would be a wise idea if Air 1 is going to use 92.7 and 103.7 instead of 106.1.
