EMF name change?

SiriusXM doesn't seem to mind that its hosted shows, on the channels that have them, all run on Eastern Time schedules, even if it means that listeners in California hear the "morning drive" shows between 1 and 5 a.m.

Although I have been a subscriber for over 20 years, I have very rarely listened to SXM during morning drive and typically listen to local radio stations at that time of day. Which SXM channels, if any, have a morning show that's structured like an actual "morning drive" show with lots of day-starter elements as opposed to a more daypart-neutral approach designed to simply present the core format 24/7 to all time zones?

That probably wouldn't apply to something like K-Love that's mainly music.
I am not on top of all the CTRC rules, but i DO know that the huge Vancouver and smaller Victoria markets in BC have zero CCM stations. They are served by KWPZ Lynden WA, a commercial class C that blankets both markets. And has many advertisers N of the border even though those marketers do NOT get the huge tax incentive given to Canadian companies to keep their dollars in the province.

There are no "tax incentives" to buy advertising on Canadian stations. What does make it painful is that your cost of advertising on U.S. stations is not deductible as a business expense on your company income tax return.

That rule dates back to a couple of situations that Canadian stations protested about in the 1960's; the most prominent was Gordon McLendon's operation of a TV station in Pembroke, ND, which principally sold advertising for the Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada market. The Canadian TV stations were at a disadvantage as they did not have the "new" CBS, NBC and ABC shows and they flocked to the Dakota station.

I was a little lax with my terminology, but that is what I meant. What I was driving at is that N of the border they don't have any "religious" stations (at least in the English speaking Vancouver market) so the businesses in BC who want to advertise on a CCM station will do so with the Crista Lynden WA station, even though they do not get the deduction. It is telling that the Lynden station buys the ratings in the Vancouver market while the two other Class C border blasters up here do not.

EDIT: Looked it up, and as of 1983 the CRTC does allow religious broadcasters. BUT they have to have multi-faith programming and ownership. And by "multi" they certainly don't mean Baptists and Catholics. They mean eaqual time for all recognized world and regional faiths.

Which DOES tend to limit interested parties! :D

This name change feels kinda akin to what I see on the TV front here in Phoenix in regards to KSAZ (FOX) where they may be an O&O, but still recognized in the copyright at the end of newscasts as NW Communications of Phoenix going back to when they were a CBS affiliate before switching in late 1994.

It's the reverse of that.

They've allowed CCM stations in Canada, but they haven't been very successful to my knowledge. There's only a few. The one they licensed in Winnipeg went through so many gymnastics to classify their active/alternative rock as "spiritual" and eventually got sold to a secular, but very conservative broadcaster that took it classical. Look up the history of CFEQ for the whole strange tale.

I don't know if you'd call it a reason to change names but there was a group called EMF that was mentioned on "Jeopardy", best known for "Unbelievable".
