Educational Media Foundation (the owners of K-Love and Air 1) will soon be taking over the entire CDR Radio Network, based out of Cedarville University just outside of Dayton. With the sale comes the acquisition of Richmond area translators at 95.3 and 90.5, which combined would give EMF one full power station (K-Love affiliate 89.3 WKRT) and three translators in the Richmond area.
According to filings by the FCC earlier this week, the 95.3 and 90.5 translators will become affiliates of Air 1 while the 101.7 translator will drop Air 1 will be spun off to Brewer Broadcasting, which will repeat programming from Newstalk 930 WHON. A construction permit is already in place to boost the signal to 250 watts. Best of luck to the folks at Brewer. Competing with WLW and WHIO-FM is probably not an easy task, but their mix of local and national talk plus the addition of an FM signal should be nothing but beneficial.
