EMF to make a purchase in Ohio

This just in...

Educational Media Foundation is rumored to make an announcement on a purchase somewhere in Northwest Ohio. They have been in talks with San Antonio is all I know.

This of course is second-hand information, however it makes a lot of sense on the signal they want to purchase! Can we say K-LOVE 103.7

Or... K-LOVE 96.5? Or BOTH? (Again, it's just a rumor... but one that I doubt Salem is real happy to hear about...)

NW Ohio? Maybe CC Findlay's WCKY...or Cumulus' Toledo's WTWR or WXKR?

First thing that comes to mind is WCKY. They will look at it as the station being a singular FM that cant move any closer to Toledo.

103.7 is perfect for EMF and KLove, they alraedy have 96.9 to the northwest in Toledo...103.7 will hit south toledo and north central ohio, on the southern parts of 103.7's coverage area EMF already has 98.7 with KLove so they extend their coverage area greatly with 103.7 covering holes in their current coverage area.

That was my first thought as well! Plus they can make that their main station in the area!

I have nothing to confirm this (and haven't posted it on OMW), but I'm hearing strong rumors that EMF is indeed kicking the tires on 103.7/Tiffin.

Whether that means they'll end up buying it is anyone's guess. But...as posted, it'd make sense for a company that seems to be buying a new FM station every other day these days, and certainly fixes most of their 96.9 problems south and east of the heart of Toledo.

Since we are talking K-Love. I am suprised that EMF does not look at 107.7 WXXF loundonville... if they had this they could fill in to the east of their Mansfield/Crestline signal and reach almost akron and canton outskirts.

I at one point heard the price-tag of 3.3 million, however...thats all ive heard.

Supposedly EMF is really jumping ahead of the line in this one. They want it really really bad, who can blame them. Something seemed fishy when Clear Channel didnt sell it to BAS. So it doesnt surprise me that they knew K-Love has been wanting this station.

E.M.F. any closer to picking up WCKY-FM?

Cannot imagine they would pay the big price tag Mays wants for the station. Could they really be trying to keep the big stick for Toledo flanking?

Maybe K/Love is looking at another station in the region.

I haven't heard anything since my last post. Rather quiet.

One thing to keep in mind - is CC committed, post-sale, to Toledo? Would the new private equity masters sell off more markets, like Toledo and Youngstown?

I'm not saying that happens, or that I've heard it, but it's worth a thought.

CC is probably asking a decent amount for WCKY, given the potential as a Toledo rimshot for K-Love or anyone. At some point, I suspect they'll come down off the pedestal. K-Love would pay much more for a 103.7 than BAS would have ever chipped in, which is why it didn't go along with the other Findlay/Tiffin stations.

I say it's Salems Fish station in Cleveland....(but I've been known to be wrong before.)
