EMF to start third network?

http://www.100000watts.com has a headline about this, but I'm not a subscriber and can't see the story. Does anyone have non-copyrighted info, or an article on another site, about the new EMF third network? I'm curious what the format will be.

Found more info at NERW. The new format is a Christian Country/Southern Gospel hybrid called "God's Country" - and several stations that primarily overlapped other K-Love/Air1 affiliates have recently flipped to this third format.

http://www.fybush.com/nerw.html

Not related to the new EMF network, but to hear what I think may be a similar format, check out http://www.wrgx.com/ .

This would make sense for some of the stations that overlap in West TN. I just hope they don't go to using this to replace K-LOVE or Air 1 stations that aren't getting enough donations.

Something I'm wondeirng about is if this network carries ads like Salem does and what EMF will do about them. I can see where they might still carry them on stations that are in the commercial band, but I'd think that they can't on the non-commercial band. I also hope if there are ads from the network that there aren't any for some of the questionable junk that Salem runs at times.

Looking at this formats website they do not appear to run any content non com friendly they run ministry bits like KLove does in their network break and trimed songs in their "local breaks"

If there are stations on this network that are licensed as non-commercial, then they can't run any commercials. It doesn't matter if they are on the commercial side of the band. Once EMF changed a station's license with the FCC, that station has to abide by the underwriting announcement rules.

True ... and it seems that the very first thing EMF does when they buy a station is convert it to non-comm and get a main studio waiver. If they want the "benefits" of being non-commercial they must follow the rules.

In the case of WOKR (the only station mentioned in the Fybush article), they did request to change the station . . .

Exhibit 31
Description: CHANGE IN LICENSE STATUS

EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION ('EMF') HEREBY NOTIFIES THE COMMISSION OF ITS DESIRE TO OPERATE WOKR(FM), REMSEN, NEW YORK, AS A NONCOMMERCIAL EDUCATIONAL STATION. EMF REQUESTS THAT THE COMMISSION GRANT THE INSTANT APPLICATION CONTINGENT UPON THE GRANT AND CONSUMMATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT OF LICENSE OF WOKR FROM CC LICENSES LLC TO GALAXY UTICA LICENSEE LLC ('GALAXY') AND SUBSEQUENTLY FROM GALAXY TO EMF. SEE FCC FILE NOS. BALH-20070727AHQ AND BALH-20070730AEG.

SEE ATTACHED LETTER OF CC LICENSES LLC, THE CURRENT LICENSEE OF WOKR, GRANTING PERMISSION TO EMF TO FILE THE INSTANT APPLICATION.

SEE ALSO ATTACHED EXHIBIT, SECTION II OF FCC FORM 340 AND EMF'S NCE CERTIFICATION.

Are there actually any other EMF affiliates? Are there actually commercials on God's Country?? The reporting on this story has been weak all around. Everyone is saying that EMF started this network, but as Jonathan mention, that appears to be false.

WIIN, 780AM Ridgeland, MS - NEW SOUTH RADIO, INC
JOY 1370, WJQI, Clarksville, TN - SAGA COMMUNICATIONS OF TUCKESSEE, LLC
WPIL, 91.7FM in Heflin, Alabama - JIMMY JARRELL COMMUNICATIONS FOUNDATION, INC.
WGCN, 90.5, Nashville, GA - EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION
KGCD, 89.1, Lincoln, ND - EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION
KGCM, 90.9, Belgrade, MT - EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION
WOKR, 93.5, Remsen, NY - EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION
Plus translators ...

Note the "GC" call letters on three of the EMF stations.
Per the affiliate page link WIIN would be the primary station.
The internet domain is owned by "White Harvest Ministries, Inc." in NC.

It looks like EMF is just taking advantage of a good thing ... but they do own most of the stations rebroadcasting the network and apparently have changed their calls to fit the format.

Realistically its likely better EMF use someone elses programming for a 3rd format, I know a few years ago EMF attempted to launch a praise and worship format in Corpis Christi and that did not last long they ended up flipping that station to K-Love.

also, someone else earler asked -- Yes there are stations EMF does not own but does carry K-Love and or Air 1.

K-Love has been mentioning on air recently that the fulfillment rate from their last pledge drive is a mere 65%, so I doubt we'll see much investment in additional programming for a while.

It's not a 3rd EMF network. EMF only leased out a few stations they did not need because of duplicate stations in the same market. The reporting on it was confusing and in some causes just jumping to conclusions.

I'll be curious to see if EMF ever holds a pledge drive on their "God's Country" affiliates. Or, is the network actually paying EMF for carriage, just to establish themselves in the marketplace?

Sorry, I know this thread is old... but when you say primary station, what do you mean? The stuff doesnt originate from WIIN or anywhere in Mississippi.
