EMI in aircraft band AGAIN

The satellite is scary. Our local station where I grew up had the problem for years. Probably 15 years. Nearby station owner discovered why he heard competitor on his frequency and griped heavily.

The signal on FM always carried the FM audio even though it was created by the AM. Sounded swishy. Because of manual tune radios some people tuned it in thinking the trashy signal was the one they wanted to listen to.

Double shielded cable. Double shielded cable.

We are still off the air. No letter of any kind from the FAA or FCC about the interference. We were told we would be able to relocate with expedited processing. This has not happened yet. Still off the air.

Lot of problems over the years with FAA complaints about interference to 109.3 ILS Localizer by FM broadcast stations. The front ends of these radios very broad by design and subject to overload by FM stations. Where public safety is concerned, you are guilty until proven innocent. FCC is not much if any help against FAA. Shortwave station nearby had almost constant dialog with FAA field engineers for years over 122 mhz AM problems. Pilots would fly over the site on either approach or departure from Tune Airport in Nashville and report interference. Several of the FAA Engineers stated openly that it was the radios fault but had to investigate each and every complaint.

As previous poster correctly stated, FAA can and will shut you down. No hearing, no jury, no trial; guilty, until proven innocent. What ever you do, don't lawyer up. Every time they inquire, the clock resets to ZERO. If you have the resources, a good FAA Airspace consultant is effective. Otherwise, a kind, contrite and steady dialog is always best.

Good luck and best regards!
