Emmis Announces HD Channels for Indy

<hr />
In Indianapolis listeners of high-definition radio will enjoy Dance music on WNOU-FM, Radio Now; Disco on WYXB-FM, B 105.7; and Americana (a country format with more roots and less mainstream country) on WLHK-FM, Hank FM.

Well...um...Dance and Disco and MORE COUNTRY. Dance is interesting, Disco is before my time, and MORE COUNTRY is ... yuck. But I guess we'll wait for rollout for final decisions on how the formats fit in Indianapolis.

Well at least Midwestclubber will be happy that Indy has a pair of Dance stations.

Im seriously thinking about going to0 Best Buy, or Circuit City TODAY, and seeing if I cant pick up an HD2 radio on Payments... They still cost too much to by them all at once.

What you may want to do is see if your local NPR affiliate is broadcasting in HD radio. If it is, call the station and ask to speak with someone knowledgeable about HD, like the GM or the engineer (look up their names first and ask for them by name). See if they can hook you up with an HD radio and, if they can, at what price. The GM of my local NPR station says he can hook people up with HD radios for around $250. That's still more than I'd like to spend, but it's far cheaper than the retail prices of HD radios, which are still very tough to find. I went to my local Best Buy a few months ago and asked about HD radio, and the people working there swore up-and-down there was no such thing!
