EMMIS Austin FMs silent? KLBJ, KROX, KBPA, KLZT

Everything went back up normally last night.

And I sure don't listen to KGSR. They should flip to hip-hop or something.

Why hip hop? I think The beat sounds better than Hot 93 did. I'd like to see them flip to energy radio or something like 97.7 did.

From what I can tell by listening, KGSR is making money for Emmis and seems to have its own advertisers in additions to buys where it's combo'ed with other Emmis Austin properties. If people are listening and it's making money, why change?

I think people tend to equate radio stations to NFL teams or college teams or the like. If UT is not winning a National Championship or at least competing strongly for it, then people need to be fired and changes made. The lesson I learned early on is that radio is different. When I moved to Austin these many years ago, I knew nobody that listened to anything other than KLBJ-FM or Z102 with a few of those other people out there on KHFI and B93. What I found out was that KASE was number one by a huge margin with tons of listeners....they just weren't my crowd at the time. What I'm getting at in a round about way is that stations can be successful in many different ways. The bottom line is if they are making money, then it will stay.
