Emmis expands its market share lead over CC

Who would have thought it possible? Emmis went from a 30.8 Market share in September to a 31.4 in October and CC went from a 28.5 in Sept to a 28.0 in October. Emmis took over the market lead in June and hasn't looked back, now if I'm in charge of the Austin cluster for CC and I'm only 60 miles for headquarters in SA, I'm getting a tad nervous.

But then again maybe not, after all the CC cluster in San Antonio has seen its lead over Cox shrink. 26.1 in September to Cox's 22.7 and then in October CC 24.4 Cox 23.1.

Well it'll take time for the generic national and automated programming to catch on with the public, and then I'm sure CC will dominate again ;)

The current market manager for CC Austin is also the market manager for CC San Antonio. She may have been given both to work on that issue. However, since her background is solely in sales, there is very little chance she will be addressing it from the programming side.

I guess that makes sense, especially considering how little original programming is being broadcast over the CC frequencies. You don't really need anyone with a background in programming when your playlist is generated via computer, and the content is delivered to the broadcasting facility from a computer sitting in a studio somewhere else, and you're essentially managing a gigantic jukebox - system (are they still studios when there are no humans involved? Or are they simply product delivery data centers?, hmmmm...)
