Emmis Flip This Week?

No more details? La Z is doing pretty well. KGSR is perking up. Doubt they'd touch either of the KLBJs. Bob is near the top in the ratings. So ... 101X? Find that hard to believe too.

Think translators. 99.7 which is a KLBJ-AM simulcast and the new 102.3. One of them will be a KGSR simulcast.

Could this be the possible rumored Mega flip?

Doubtful unless KLBJ-AM loses it's FM simulcast. KGSR is getting a translator in the metro. A recent austin360.com story about KGSR said, "Emmis hopes to flip the switch on a translator in the Westlake area later this year that will put KGSR on a second, closer-in frequency."

Great theory Fred. However it isn't completely out of the question that KLBJ would lose its FM simulcast for such a flip. Its very feasible.

How is it that there seems to be a format flipping in San Antonio/Austin like every week?

KLBJ-AM is running ads in the Statesman that include their FM frequency ... so I'd be very surprised if that was the frequency that will flip. And KGSR's translator isn't due to come online until the very end of the year, unless something has changed.

In the Statesman? Really? Emmis does a lot of things right, but deserves an "F" for promotion of 99.7 both on air and off. Has it been mentioned on the website even once since the launch?

The ads have been running maybe a week or so. A couple different variations. Pages A11 and C4 in Wednesday's Statesman.

Excuse me, the new 102.7 translator.
