Emmis Terre Haute

Yep! Not sure it will be all of CR but certainly WBOW FM. That would make sense.

Just one problem: They have NO money and the healthy clusters that remain have to generate a lot of cash to pay down the debt. They're in a fight for survival and not in acquisition mode.

Seems like the rumor of Emmmis and Crossroads making an LMA deal may be over. If so, it may be the nail in the coffin for CR. They have no management, no money, no plan, and no hope! Now that was pretty strong.

So the no money, no plan, no managment and no hope is the way things have been for a couple of years. No real change. Wonder how long it will take before they put it out of it's misery and just turn the whole thing off.

It depends on the debt holders. As long as they get their money (payments) nothing will happen. If the payments are late or not coming: would the would the lien holders think come out better if they keep the same management (and hope for the best), or submit a plan to run it themselves while they get ready to sell parts or the whole thing via Chapter 11, or "force" a sale via Chapter 7. Usually 11 is used even if the stations are sold because it is usually better to sell an on going operation than just the licenses, equipment and what tower sites might be involved.

Wow guys. While many will agree Crossroads has a financial mess, before saying the stations need to be turned off, think about the people there working hard to do good radio and would be out of work. While it may not be a whole lot of people, they are still people who rely on their jobs for income. They have nothing to do with their owner's sins. They are just trying to earn a living.

In my opinion, WAXI and WBOW sound pretty good (Better than I ever remember them sounding in a long time, especially WAXI). Will they be # 1 or 2? No. But what station in Terre Haute other than WTHI ever will be?

You missunderstand. I'm not licking my lips at the thought of the 3 or 4 people there being put out of work. I don't think anyone is.

The problem is that those people have no leadership and no one who knows how or is able to teach others how to do good radio. It all sounds very small town. With the money problems and poor performace I think we are all amazed that the place hasn't gone dark already.

The problem is ownership. They seem to not be able to wrap their mind around what is needed to make a station sound good or hire someone who can do it for them. They also seem to think that those underperforming stations are worth more than they are. Everyone knows that they have been for sale for a while but no takers. With allot of the talk on this board in the past on what they want in terms of price, they need to remove their head from a certain body orfice and see the light.

Good luck to those that are there, I hope they get some guidance and help.

man its bad enough Terre Haute lost 3 stations already due to FCC Seizure, if the Crossroads Stations go off the air. thats what 4 or 5 stations more. not gonna be much for the hauter's to listen too

I guess we can all speculate what may or may not happen to Crossroads. Yes it's sad to think about those who maybe effected if they shut down. I hope that doesn't happen. What should they do about programing on their stations? It was posted that WBOW and WAXI sound better, do they really? WBOW hasn't changed much over the years. With the addition of some CHR selections I'm guessing current management thinks this may work, well it hasn't in the past! WAXI is playing classic rock, but does it really make much sence to butt heads with the River and The Valley who have much stronger signals in Terre Haute? 92.7 in the last 12+ numbers had a dismal showing with ESPN. What is CR seeking, high ratings or higher sales? Has Crossroads done the reserch to see what's lacking in theTerre Haute market or sought out some PROFESSIONAL advice?

Milo I do not think CR has ask anybody about anything since they bought the stations. There is always hope for stations and these are no exception. Not sure all the stations are in the right format and I am sure the air staff's have no professional guideance and there is no need to address the sales department. Seems CR would rathter continue to through good money after bad but refuse to try and bring in any kind of professional help. A few thousand dollars to try and "right" these stations would be money well spent.
