While Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan believes the company's two radio stations in Chicago, if sold at the right price, "could exceed the prospects for cash flow generation as part of [their] portfolio," it is not necessarily a given that WLUP or WRQX will be sold so soon.
The stations finished just below the Top 10 in the recent PPM's in the 25-54 demos, yet Emmis Chicago market manager Marv Nyren believes WRQX is in "the best shape it's been in in 10 years."
