EMMIS

Emmis Communications Corp. has the right to feel a little blue this holiday season.

The media company has watched its stock price tumble 59 percent this year, has seen radio revenue fall in its two biggest markets and has taken abuse from big shareholders when its chairman and chief executive toyed with the idea of buying the company and taking it private.
But the Indianapolis radio company is ready to party. Despite the financial pressures, Emmis is getting ready to throw another of its famous holiday bashes for its 250 employees. On Thursday, Emmis plans to turn its lobby on Monument Circle into party central, with food, music and casino gambling with fake "Smu-bucks" -- paper money with the face of its CEO, Jeff Smulyan.
"It's something people look forward to all year long," said Emmis spokeswoman Kate Snedeker. "It's part of our culture and important to our CEO. Being good to people is one of our commandments."

The New York cluster will celebrate tonite at Caroline's on Broadway with a heavily guarded entranceway to prevent possible gun activity.

They have plenty to celebrate after the trends (Winter, Phase II) that came out today.

Yes, and I suppose a good fall *trend* (not even a full book) will cause Emmis to forget about its stock price tumbling 59% this year.

Well, that's just a stock price. They could have been another company, acquire a LA stick for 400 million, hire a morning guy, piss that morning guy off so much he leaves, watch a Reggaeton station sign on and take ratings from that LA stick, bring in a syndicated jock who failed on a Class A 6 years prior in LA, and just recently fire that guy, and change their station name and calls in the proccess! All for 400 million!

At least Emmis was never that stupid. :D
