Empire Broadcasting 106.1 YNN feed.

Months ago Scott Fybush reported that 106.1 was set to simulcast WABY 1460 AM standards. On top of that if you go to Radio Locator.com and press the link to 106.1’s website you are linked to WABY’s site. I have not been able to get a straight answer about what’s going on here from management for these stations. It would be great to hear a standards station on FM. What’s the holdup???

Agreed... and to be able to pick up the station (via FM) after sundown would be a plus!
........and to correct; WABY is 1160, not 1460. (1460 is Disney)

Even a satellite Urban AC or Smooth Jazz format on 900 would probably get better ratings than the YNN feed ;) I do like the thought of putting 1160 on 106.1 though (what exactly are the rules of AM-on-FM translators? it might be a bit too far from the transmitter at night?)

Urban AC is aimed at young listeners , right? Many young people I know are dismissive of FM stations. Except for sports, they think of AM as the other band that is all noise and static( if they think of it at all) I don’t see how that would attract listeners to a music format such as Urban AC. Even standards fans complain about WROW because it is on AM.

They must be really picky people. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I have an extremely high tollerance for AM radio.

Yeah, I'm 29 but if I were in a market and the only Urban AC/Alternative/Oldies/whatever were on AM, I'd definitely still listen :) (bonus if the station runs AM stereo, which sadly is very rare now :()
