NO! Howie Carr is both BORING and PREDICTABLE. He used his surrogate street walking girls on the Inside Track at that tabloid....'Eye'll think of its name sometime' to write that Jerry Williams was doing the same shows over and over again but Jerry at his worst [ also due to the fact that most of his last producers were nothing more than call screeners] was never as boring and predictable as Howie Carr has become.
If Carr goes to TKK he better shape up. Morning Drive is no place for 'boring and predictable' just ask Michael "Crackers" Graham or the legion of failures at WRKO doing AM Drive.

Let me get this straight! Julie "The Executioner" Kahn who runs what she calls "THE Talk Station" where The First Amendment and free speech are the goal wants to restrict the powers that be at WTKK from executing that very same First Amendment right.

Some one should tell short skirts that she is not a Dictatoress and she does not run a totalitarian country.

But is shows the complete desperation of Kahn and Company that the are desperately afraid of not only free speech but free competition.

I can name a dozen or so totalitarian countries where MS. Kahn may feel comfortable but the short skirt will have to go. Small price to pay and who knows she may do the world a favor by donning a Burka.

free speech is one thing but acc. to Kahn, Wolfe, etc., Howie shouldn't have the right to go over to
WTKK and beat Tom The Felon in the ratings. And how about that Boston mag. article that
slammed Howie recently, in a publication that Kahn's husband helps to run? Nice way to treat
their valued (-ex?) employee.
I'm not sure how long this will drag out but look for 'RKO's pm drive numbers to take a nosedive and
if it DOES take "months" look for his affiliates (exc. maybe WGAN and WXTK, which Pahigian has
ties to) to drop the show.

the Herald article last Thu had said: "Entercom claims* Greater Media “continues to try to lure Mr. Carr into broadcasting on its radio station and refuses to cease making statements to the public that it hopes Mr. Carr will come to work for it soon.”
But that didn't say Entercom actually filed a claim about it. So far I think the only claim GM has made was that
one statement on its site saying that they hoped he'd eventually get to WTKK but it hasn't gone much
beyond that.

filing a legal claim against them in the matter

Howie could be on WRKO exercising his rights tomorrow if he so chose. What he can't do (until a court rules otherwise, or he works out a settlement) is breach the brand spankin' new five year deal with Entercom that he triggered by signing match-able offer with a competitor while he was still under contract.

All the huffing, puffing and blustering doesn't change the simple facts.

Look at the state of radio today. They don't want to find someone to replace Howie. There are lots of talented people out there and their names are not Finneran, Bulger, Severino or Carr. Add to the trash heap
Savage, Limbaugh, Coulter, etc.

having Todd Feinblank on the air is not going to attract ANY audience and will push away the audience H.C. built.

When someone is given the title "market manager" or "general manager" or "station manager," they tend to be the one calling the shots...and if you don't like the call, you don't get to put it to a vote. enough that two top ten market stations are fighting for his services, he has been offered a deal worth 7 Million dollars.

When your successes amount to 10% of his, your opinion may have some validity and a couple of people may care what you think about what it takes to be a
success in talk radio.

Back to basics: Howie Carr should work where he wants to work. Plain and simple. Like him or not WRKO should settle for some buy-out agreement and move on. Frankly, I think Howie has peaked and is on the downside of his "success." WRKO would do better to find someone who can pull in the ratings they need in afternoon drive. Clearly, Todd Feinburg is not the person and the ratings disaster which will be the Fall book minus the Red Sox will prove that. WRKO is doing itself no financial favors in prolonging this dispute.

Problem is they want Findburg on the air to keep the payroll down. It's like a baseball team having the water boy pitch in the world series. Guaranteed to implode the ratings. But who cares? They have the Sox and the numbers for the station overall will be fine. Like WBCN when they Stern and the Pats who needs talent on the air? It's just further down the road, where WBCN is now, that they get hurt. RKO is going to have the same problems WBCN is facing because they don't care - and they don't have to.

WEEI had more advertising today than I've EVER heard on that station. They are raking in the bucks with the success of the Sox and the Pats. and people will tune back in after they tune out the ads.
