I was going through some old trade journals in the library the other day and I noticed a WWOF-AM 1580, listed as running a Middle Of The Road format, in New Bern. I know the AM 1380 signal went dark some years ago but this is the first I've heard of a 1580 there. Anybody have any information on this one?

I also noticed a listing for WFTC-FM on 97.7 in Kinston. I was not aware those call letters were ever used on that frequency. Was that one of the FM casualties of the 1950's? The WFTC calls were used on AM 960 for many years before it became WRNS-AM.

Bonus trivia question: which ENC TV station had a dual network affiliation until some time in the early 1960's?

There was once a WWOF on 1580 licensed to Camp Lejeune, NC (It was also known as WCTJ and WSMO, and is now WSME on 1120 AM). WWOF in New Bern was probably a misprint.
