"Endless" Jess Santos Show On WWZN (Aren't They All?)

I don't know if WWZN had satellite problems this morning (Wednesday, 06/16) but they did not broadcast the Stephanie Miller show starting at 10:06 am as usual. When I heard Jess Santos droning away, I thought that he had decided to expand his show in reaction to President Obama's speech; but n-o-o-o...he and Mike Dukakis were bloviating about transportation issues. So it must have been an already broadcast and recorded show. This better not happen again.

They were broadcasting some sort of meeting that Jeff was host of. I am not sure what it was (seemed about energy/going green). I only caught the last few minutes of it in my car going to lunch as Jeff was saying "we are now going to join Ed Schulz already in progress" about 12:10 PM.

I was able to hear some excerpts from the broadcast at the Stephanie Miller website. The interview with Chris Matthews was during the 9:00 am till 10:00 am hour EDST, so we wouldn't have gotten it anyway. The interview went very well, and a casual listener would have thought that Chris and Steph were best friends. But Chris banned Steph from his TV show after she called him a "conservative tool" during an appearance on "Hardball". She's quite the kidder. Maybe now she'll be invited back.

I believe that WWZN airs the first hour of Miller's show during the overnight hours. I think Miller is on from 1:00AM to 2:00AM (after Norman Goldman), and is followed by the missing hour of Thom Hartmann, which is followed by an hour of Leslie Marshall (complete with WWKB station breaks), which is followed by an hour of Doug Stephan (a Republican). At 5:00AM, I think there is a repeat of the previous day's 5:00PM to 6:00PM hour, which is followed by an hour of the Channel 5 news audio. Santos is on as live as he probably ever gets to be from 7:00AM to 10:00AM. Those three hours are the REAL snooze time--some of the worst radio in this market (and just about anywhere else).

Forgive me for not paying closer attention...but...

Have the Boston PPM's come out already?

If so...How did the prog-talk on 1510 do vs. the conservative talk on "Rush Radio 1200"?

All I'm seeing (checked yesterday and today) on radio-info "ratings" and ****************** is the
April numbers have been out for awhile, and the latter says next update is July 16? I know there's
12 plus and 6 plus (or has the 12 plus _become_ "6 plus") not to mention the 25-54s, etc., so maybe they are out but I don't know where to find them.

In the Apr period WXKS went down slightly (but still much better than Rumba, and slightly better than 1200/progtalk at its peak); WWZN again did not show but I don't know if they have
subscribed or not

Boston PPM ratingss for May 2010 will be publicly posted on this site (& others) at 5pm Eastern Time Thursday 6/17/10.

Radio stations can access the ratings reports at 12 noon local time on the same day as the public release.

And if it does, what will you be prepared to do?

Write another post??

O..M..G!!!

Remember impressionist Joe Flaherty (think that was his name) who would appear on Jerry
Williams' show as "the governor"? "Well, we'll look at the numbers and talk to the people
and then we'll look at the people and talk to the numbers." When I think of Dukakis I think of
the SNL moment when Jon Lovitz, a recent guest on Howie's show, listened to G. Bush I
(Dana Carvey) doing his "stay the course....thousand points of light...stay the course." bit and
Lovitz/Dukakis looked into the camera and said, "I can't believe I'm losing to this guy."

Look bottom line Santos LMA's WWZN from Blackstrap. (Peter Davidson). As long as Mr. Santos's checks clear he controls the station. He can run whatever he wants on it if he wants to play a CD on repeat of those damn dogs barking Jingle Bells he can. So it is his right if he wants to extend the length his own show.

AFAIK, Santos is buying only specific hours from Blackstrap: The hours being purchased seem to be M-F 5A-7P and 10P-4A, with pre-emptions for Red Sox en Espanol to be made up if practical on weekends or on open days in the Sox schedule (and not to be paid for if suitable time on weekends/open days is unavailable). The arrangement is not the same as a 24/7 LMA.
