Energy 1039 - WNRJ

Heard Vienna/Parkersburg/Marietta got a new CHR. They don't stream so has anyone heard this station or have any audio for me? It'd be so appreciated. Looking to hear an hour worth of music, and maybe some imaging.

Wow a third CHR radio station for that area. Just remembered 15 years ago when there was no CHR there. WRVB was Sunny FM and WXIL was adult contemporary themselves.

Yeah, 2 of which have local programming... The River is Premium Choice. Technically, if you count Power 105 as a confused CHR, that makes 4. I'm hoping someone can get me some audio.

I'm in eastern Columbus so I can't help there. But if a Columbus board reader is reading this topic they have to be suprised an area this small getting 3 stations for today's hit music. That power 105 is in Athens so I can see it's confused. Don't know if it wants to be chr or Hot AC.

I'm in Columbus myself. Used to be at OU for school, going back soon. I'm hoping I'll be able to grab it. Chances are with my portable HD radio I'll be bringing on my next trip, it will be almost unlistenable if I can grab it. That does make 3 CHR's for Parkersburg though. I'm hoping with the name Energy they're playing more dance and hip-hop though. 95XIL is almost Adult CHR, The River is Prem. Choice so it's straight down the line. Even though it IS a cowtown, I'm sure there are listeners that would want to be exposed to that kind of music. It worked in Lima.

I never called Parkersburg/Marietta area a cowtown. But I know people call Columbus that quite a bit. But if C-bus had the same # of chrs as we do country we'd probably wouldn't be sounding so cowtown.

Well, my presets are filled when I'm in Athens. Got a chance to check out Energy, and although it is pretty much static in town, the music is good (recurrent friendly), and the jingles are a lot better than 95XIL and The River's. Their imaging guy isn't all that (Jeff Straub) but you hear more jingles and dead segues then you do imaging. Stopsets are quick, they have a chance.

I am from Parkersburg <RIP KIX-103> and last time I was in town, nobody even knew Energy was on the air.

I still chuckle when I head into town and hear rap on 95XIL, cuz that was a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig no-no in both my incarnations there. :)

It will be interesting to see the next batch of ratings to see how Energy stacks up compared to 95XIL and 102.1 the River.
