All have great dance remixes. And since when does a dance station have to be all 130bpm anyway?

especially in Phoenix, AZ - They already tried the all dance format.. and it didnt work.. nothing wrong with experimenting.

Im actually listening to Caesars - Jerk it out right now on my dance hits channel... and it is one of the most requested songs that we play on there... same with The Black Eyed Peas-Don't Mess With My Heart. The audience likes pop remixes... and our numbers are the highest they have ever been for this channel.
______________

Well, with the way their numbers were, they have to try to do something different. Energy AZ has been sounding BAD lately, way too much Cheese, and Circuit remixes for my taste. And all the Edgier Music, that Mikeo had programed for Night records have disappeared. Anything they do different at Energy AZ will be an improvement, hopefully the POP hits will help balance it out, so it isnt just one DIVA Song after another. Not to mention they have Lysa D in the Morning Drive now, She may be (HOT), and may be an O.K mixshow DJ, but she isnt right for the A.M drive, especially not by herself.

I am actually enjoying energy arizona mixing in alot of 90's classic dance trax. The pure dance format did not work so I think energy is trying something different but it is still dance. It may not be the dance station many dance fans want but if it brings in better ratings and more revenue then thats the bottom line. I think it is impressive though that this month marks the third anniversary of a dance station for phoenix.

geez I will take over morning and mix show duties...

Never said it was a bad idea to mix it up. If anything, I've said several times on this forum I think the secret to longevity playing dance is to play hiphop and upbeat pop remixes. Just found it odd because MikeO was heading in that direction, he was chopped down, and now Energy AZ has really pushed in that direction.

People said that about Dallas when it had/lost KDL. That's a pretty strong statement especially when you consider in Dallas' case KDL was becoming very repetitive which annoyed people. I think all dance can work, it's just executed poorly in many cases.
______________

Re: Energy 92.7 //Caesars? Rob Thomas?

How do Caesars and Rob Thomas play into this mix? Strictly during the day, I'd imagine?

Caesars - "Jerk It Out" has a pretty hot remix by Richard Dalton.. and has been the number 1 requested song in Seattle (C89.5) a few times.
______________

Its a Hot track, Both the remix and the original are catchy, and rhythmic. It gets a good response and doesnt make the Hard core dance fans Push the Presets. It would be a Bad move to Ignore this track.

Re: Energy 92.7 //Caesars? Rob Thomas?

I was wondering if there were cool remixes of that one. iTunes has made my life a lot easier but it's also made it a lot more difficult to locate remixes.

One of the only reasons I could fathom for working at a radio station would be to burn copies of what the record companies send. Ha. (Of course, those CD's won't pay my rent or buy me food after the station is sold and flips to another damn JACK. LOL.)

Re: Energy 92.7 //Caesars? Rob Thomas?

I thought about it after I posted that comment last night. The Caesars song can totally fly at Rhythmic. In my market, that song would have probably broken on Y100 (if they were still around) and they were an Alternative Rock station. Q102 (the sorry excuse for a CHR) would have probably picked it up one week later. Becasue we had Y100 for so long, "Jerk It Out" puts me in an Alt Rock mindset. I have to get Y100 out of my head once and for all!

Re: Energy 92.7 //Caesars? Rob Thomas?

Rob Thomas has two remixes. The Jason Nevins is off the hook. The original could be played on a dance station.

Actually 3, The Scumfrog Remix shipped a few weeks back. Which helped it land the #1 spot on the Hot Dance/Club Play Chart.
