Energy 92.7 SF

Sorry if this has already been mentioned...

The Summer Phase I Arbitrends for San Francisco were released a few days ago. It's encouraging to see that Energy 92.7 (KNGY) is up slightly from their Spring number (we aren't allowed to quote actual ratings/shares here.) And, at least on the 12+ numbers that we're allowed to see, it's actually beating Bonneville's KZBR "Max 95.7", which I believe is one of those "Jack" type stations.

Interestingly, Radio & Records Online classifies KNGY as "Rhythmic AC".

I believe the trends have now surpassed Party's biggest trend. Furthermore, I believe Trevor Simpson is steering the ship for the time being!<P ID="signature">______________

And lets hope its all smooth sailing from now on..... I love the Energy Liner that says Arbitron rated...UH......Barely... energy 927...Cracks me up, I love funny Liners. Wouldnt it be Funny if they Beat WILD...LOL...Cant be done on that signal though, I have a friend in San Jose (she,s hot too), and I heard NONSTOP Country on 92.7 while there. Too bad I didnt have my own car and a better radio with me at the time, I would,ve driven to San Fransisco just to hear Energy, and check out the signal, and how the signal performed.... UH, I was that close to being able to hear Dance over the fm dial again, and so close to all those hot clubs and couldnt go.

Clarity on Energy 92.7 SF

Don Parker is the interim PD, Trevor Simpson is the Mix Show Coordinator.

The last trend was great, and although we don't sell the station (primarily) on numbers, there are some incredible stories with our primary demos (can't get specific). We receive positive feedback all day long, but to see it reflected in the numbers is highly gratifying.

Joey V. does the station liners, he's talented and very funny, as is all the airstaff. We actually have listeners tell us how much they love the (commercial) spots he does, which is a little surreal.

We have to be listed as Rhythmic AC because there aren't enough Dance stations in the country to warrant that category with Arbitron (their words, not mine).

Is this the same Don Parker who was at KKFR in Phoenix from either late 1994 or early/mid 1995 through mid-1997? I absolutely LOVED the station at that time! And I remember that it achieved what might have been an all-time high 12+ rating at some point during that era (might have been either the Fall '95 or Winter '96 book, or one of the Arbitrends in-between.)

Makes sense. I'd personally rather see the "Rhythmic AC" label than "CHR/Rhythmic" (which, these days, implies a hip-hop/R&B-oriented format...)

True but KTU, NYC. is listed as CHR/Rhythmic and not Rhythmic AC and their dayparts are probably more AC oriented than Energy, SF. Go figure...Arbitron is a strange duck.

As a citizen of the San Francisco bay area, I love dance music. I do feel that Energy is much better than Party 92.7. Energy does play it's fair share of current hits (DHT, narcotic thrust, lola, etc.), yet they throw in the classics too (ian van dahl "i will", basement jaxx "red alert", moby "go", shakedown "feel much better", etc.).

I do enjoy the commercials too. Some feel like they are copying some of the commericals/or tones of voice that st. john has used on WILD 94.9 in the past. But all in all, i enjoy Energy, and i hope it sticks around for the sake of dance music!
