The only thing in the Feder column was his reporting (late reporting) of Candi stabbing someone. Nothing in there about it going dance. Sorry to say, but the April Fool's joke is rather late. I read the Feder column before I turned on B96 to find out for sure.

Methinks people need a refresher course on sarcasm...

Exactly, sorry my joke went so far.

I was just trying to point out how out of touch FEDER is. He comes to radio-info.com, reads the crap we are throwing around and prints it. OR he just copies press releases. Feder used to be a great writer, but he's lost it too many vacations and too much web-surfing.

He really did print "dance". Doesn't he know that it's rap-pop-r&b? I know that you can dance to it, but by that standard, US-99 is a dance station too.

At any rate ENERGY was a great station, lots of fun and short lived. BUT as ZELEN said in another post, maybe it's better that Dance stays in the clubs and on our ipods.

Looks like he doesn't want to use either "churban" or "rhythmic CHR," since he doesn't use the "CHR" term anyway (probably considers it too industry). Since "Chicago's Dance Beat" is probably still their most well-known slogan and most of his readers don't listen to the station anyway, that's what he uses. Wrong, but kind of understandable.

I would assume that because DREX is gaining ground that maybe B96 is thinking about flipping to real music? not that rap crap?

First of all, the correct term is "hip-hop." "Rap" is only used by middle-aged and older whites, rockists and buppie newspaper columnists.

And if you look at the charts, it's hip-hop and R&B that are dominating these days, not rock. Why would a CHR like B96 stop playing what's selling?

Re: eggs!

<font color=3333ff>Eggs....... I got it right away and cracked up when I saw your post when I clicked on the subject.

When I was eating breakfast the other day at Denny's while reading Feder, I too laughed when I saw he wrote that.

Thanks for making me laugh right as I got home from a 11 hour work night :D
Kinda took the fun out of it that it had to be explained, but ah well..... some of us get it ;)

To call B96 the dance station is completely irroenous (big word here) and inacurate. For him to be a professional industry reporter, he better label stations correctly!

Ah yes though, if we took EVERYTHING that he wrote as the final word, I'd be amazed as to what Chicago radio would REALLY be like LOL !!!!!!!!!

In general, he labels stations the way listeners do, not the waay insiders do. I think his labels are more meaningful and accurate.
