Energy Sounds Like A**

Sorry but this is not a dance chr station. I'm not up on my current dance hits but morning drive with Snoop rapping about the joys of THC and "roll one and smoke one" is more than a bit off target. Wake and Bake radio....nice.

Sounds like CBS is just using the Energy name and redefining it for the market and umm...I guess... but this is another rap CHR station targeting the Jersey Shore crowd. Spray tan vs. real tan, this is San Diego people.

Too bad, would have been huge as a true dance chr.

First off, do you REALLY think CBS is going to put a Dance station on a full coverage station like KSCF off Mt. Soledad covering the entire county and parts of OC? At most a Dance-leaning CHR nowadays. When have you ever heard a Dance station on anything other than a small, low coverage stick emerge within the last 5-7 years? San Francisco couldn't even keep a Dance station alive. KSIQ is the type of low-power station that has the Dance format. I personally love Dance music myself but they do not appeal to a broad enough audience and do not perform well in PPMs and I understand that. I have my iPhone apps for The Vibe Las Vegas as well as Pandora and Jelli 96-7 to get tose tunes. I would love a Dance station in San Diego but it just isn't going to happen. It's the reality of the situation.

I think Energy could be better, yes, but so far is filling a void that has been left in SD since Blazin' went Spanish and Z90 sold out to Top 40. I'd like to see what 94-9 does as their ratings were lower than Sophie's and they missed their opportunity to flip to a Rythmic CHR. I don't think keeping the underground Alternative format is a good plan but time will tell.

But they just started...they've been on the air for less than one day...the format will be tweaked as further research is done on the format.

If 94-9 was to flip, what format could they flip to? 94-9 might have had the plan to flip to CHR, but CBS radio beat them
to it. Now, the SD market is oversaturated with CHRs!That's more CHRs than LA! But I'm betting if Cherry Creek ever sells Q96,it will flip to something else. As for the "Energy" name, it seems like CBS keeps differentiating SD from the other CBS
markets (I don't have a clue why,) Heck, Sophie was a modified version of [email protected] in SF, while Energy 103.7 is
simply AMP Radio with a different name, (same format.) I don't know why they didn't use "103.7NOW."

Wait a minute here...Charese Fruge have never programmed a Top-40 station, only
HOT AC and didn't she just hire an APD from Reno and SF? I'm gonna go out of a
limb here and say CBS Top-40 VP Michael Martin who doesn't get along with her
from LA days at KYSR is gonna pop her or get Greg Strasell or Charlie Quinn to do
it. They are gonna send her back to Vegas. Then they will bring in one of Weatherly's
boys or Martins and start rockin.

Yes give it time. When AMP launched in Los Angeles it took a while to catch on after tweaking the playlist. Not only that it will cause Channel to make some adjustments in its music and commerical load just like it did for KIIS in LA.

This station has a shot of being quite successful (just like KAMP) if execution is done properly; the format choice is not a bad one. Will enable the station to retain a decent chunk of its existing cume while simultaneously providing upside potential.

One early beef: the web site. It looks terrible. Not sure what happened here; the web sites of CBS' CHR stations used to look quite good. Of, the web site issue is not limited to Energy. AMP Radio in Detroit has the same pathetic web site as Energy.

Q96 was mentioned earlier. This is a garbage station that should not even be factored into the equation.

As for KBZT, I think they'll be fine now that the cancer known as Mikey has been eradicated. If numbers still fail to rebound, I think Classic Hits or a Rewind-style format may be their best options.

90's and Now. Mix 94.9. We lost that niche when Star 100.7 flipped to Jack. Would do well as Jack has too much 80's for the 18-34 demo

Wasn't Mix 94.9 a sort of a gold-based AC station? Maybe you are thinking of Mix 95.7, the station that played all 80's.
I remember Mix 94.9 had former B-100 jock Bobby Rich on it. The format only lasted a year before flipping to K-BEST 95.

How many formats has this same regime gone through on this station without success? Even if they get rid of the award-winning Ms. CF, the operation will be still be run by the same people who launched all the other formats (the same ones who decided Jeff n Jer should be brought in to downgrade KYXY).

I watched from inside at how they screwed up major marketing and programming decisions with The Planet and it never ceased to amaze at how their disconnect from reality. KYXY's success has kept managers employed for a long time in that building (even though they didn't create that station) and for a long time they were smart enough to not mess with it and just rode the wave. With 103.7 they have just kept hiring new faces for format after format, then firing them when it didn't work, but the incompetents at the top have kept their jobs.

Can we expect that they are finally going to get smart after all these years? I say, nay nay.

And just in...

After fan protesting this past weekend, Energy FM will flip back to Sophie FM
