English language Oldies to disappear from San Diego

Unless Spanish baladeers are "regional Mexican" that format is oldies, not regional. And, whatever it is, it will go away as soon as CCU sells 99.3's LMA to someone else.

99.3 is a Tijuana station... in fact, only 3 (2 FM and one AM) of the San Diego County stations are in Spanish. In other words, nearly all the Spanish you har is on stations licensed to Mexico... and to Tijuana, a market as big as San Diego.

Yeah, us native San Diego, Californians have open minds and others even have the ability to change the dial if you don't "comprende español." Too bad for you.
What a shame that those that don't understand the language only appreciate the Mexican thang when it comes to playing tourista and drinking tequila.

The only certain thing in radio is change. Change is improvement.

Yes Mr. Moderator, I apologize for my post. Comments like the above quote are the fodder for all of the zingers and racist remarks that eventually come along.

Around the country, major cities are losing their oldies stations: NYC and Chicago just to name a couple. Perhaps one of the 6,000 talkers on AM could pick up the format.

Nature and radio abhors a vacuum. Sooner or later the format will reappear in San Diego. Remember when K-BEST dropped the format only to return with it years later?

That rarely happens. The hope of oldies returning to San Diego is pretty low. We'll see though.

Things have changed. If you look at all the markets that lost their oldies stations in the past year, the majority never got a replacement.

Dallas will also get one. I heard that even Iowa will get a "La Preciosa" station.

I agree, and suggest that midnightmike is on very thin ice.
