Enhanced FM this morning due to Earl?

I noticed that there was some enhancement on the FM dial this morning, likely due to the atmospheric conditions associated with Hurricane Earl to the south. I tuned my radio to 93.1 FM, expecting WHYN-FM from Springfield, MA. Nope! Amor 93.1 from Patterson, NJ/New York City was right over it, in Spanish and a weak stereo signal. WQHT-FM 97.1 (HOT 97) was weak but there. WKTU-FM 103.5 of Lake Success/New York City was coming in like a local. I also heard a little of WBLS-FM 107.5 of New York City, WCTK-FM 98.1 of New Bedford, MA and WTKK-FM 96.9 from Boston, albeit with the stereo fading in and out.

Yes! A bunch of us were talking about that. Getting stations from VA to RI coming in on stations from NYC to Southern CT

I was in Saratoga Springs, NY, and noticed that 106.9, which I was using for my XM FM modulator, sounded scratchy, like another signal was on the frequency. Sure enough, it was WCCC, rolling in around 10:30 a.m.

I believe I was getting the 104.1 from I think Boston here in Danbury CT and going up to Kent to go mountain biking on route 7 on friday morning before my radio show. I don;t know who else can play Katie Perry.

Yes.com says WBMX played Katy Perry a couple of times Friday morning early.

You were probably hearing WBMX

Still hard to associate 104.1, Boston, and Katy Perry!! Old habits die hard I guess....
