CJRC 1150 in Ottawa/Gatineau is moving to 104.7 fm so0n. They were just granted approval today. CJRC is the last remaining french AM station in the national capital region. The previous 2 had different endings. There was a station at 970 that was shut down in the late 80's and radio canada's 1250 has moved to 90.7. This move leaves Ottawa with only 3 am stations. The interesting thing is there is a low powered 180 watt fm station already at 104.7 in Ottawa that is used for information. It just went on this summer. No mention yet on what's going to happen to it, whether it will be moved to another frequency (which is my guess), or whether it will swap out frequencies with 1150 or shut down after only being on for a few months. Currently CJRC runs 50'000 watts day/5000 night on AM. It will only operate with 2900 watts on fm. The 104.7 signal is already squeezed between 2 higher powered stations and will have problems being heard in the downtown core and parts. CJRC can be heard in parts of the US at night, and in northern new york and extreme northwest corner of vermont during the day, try dxing it for the next few months while you still can.
