Enjoying "The Wolf"

Right now, I listened to 94.3/97.3 "The Wolf" and it's a better radio station than WRWD. It has Brandy Mark, Buzz Stevens and many others including the "Jack Foxworthy Countdown" and the Yankee games. I enjoyed "The Wolf" very much and it's a great country station. That station plays country, just like KZLA in Los Angeles where they dropped country a few weeks ago for a MOViN format. I hope "The Wolf" should do better than WRWD. I should give Cumulus credit for that. :)

The Wolf is a joke. It doesn't know what it is. Remember, it's a Cumulus station...all they REALLY care about is WPDH. As long as that station does well, the Wolf could play 'Take this Job and Shove it' 24/7 and no one would care. They hang their hat on ONE station. The other stations...who really cares?

If you take a look at the last few books, the wolf's ratings are in the dumper. Country fans are fickle, in the sense that one they get used to one station they will not switch. Witness thunder country that was in this market a few years ago; at least they shot it in the head quickly. And, of course, Chuckie's answer to a loser station is to simulcast it. And they play music that AIN'T COUNTRY- WTF? The clock is ticking...get those resumes ready...another loser from Cumulus....maybe they will put Miller out to pasture also.... ???

If you look in Los Angeles which is out of the west coast that KZLA lost its country station since KZLA has been on at 93.9 for about 20 years when it was a country station. Now they gave up the format and then flipped to MOViN 93.9 where they started back last month. But now that both WRWD and "The Wolf" are both playing country, that wouldn't give up the format after the KZLA backlash back in mid-Augus. Looked what happened in New York City. WHN gave up its country format first in 1987 and it became WFAN at the time before it moved to 660 in 1988. And then WYNY was at 97.1 for one year when it was country before it moved to 103.5 the following year and then gave up the format in 1996. And then around 1997 or 1998, 107.1 had the country quadcast on where the station was nicknamed as "Y-107". And then in 2001, country was blew up by Big City and it became "Rumba 107.1" as a spanish station for one year until they gave up in 2002 and destroyed the quadcast to put on separate formats on 107.1. WRWD has been the top country station for over 15 years. I listened to "The Wolf" most of the time while I can switched to WRWD and then to "The Wolf" because of the Yankees game. I remember when another Cumulus station WKNY used to have the Yankee game for years when it was a small market station in Kingston until 2003 while 94.3 was started to put the same Yankee game on the then called WBPM when it was "Cool 94.3" before it went to 92.9 a year later where they still have the WBPM calls there after the WRKW calls went out. "The Wolf" would be a better country station than WRWD. I see the ratings in the Spring that it went up some. But don't worry! Will see if the Winter ratings come out in four months to see what "The Wolf" is doing.

Not sure where u are coming from. The wolf barely even shows up in the book, never has. They don't have much advertising. yeah, they might play more music but that's because they don't have any advertising, no revenue, no paychecks, hello??????? And they play music that doesn't even resemble country; that takes what little credability they have away.WRWD is consistently on top. You won't get the country fans to switch. The Albany market is the same way; WGNA's morning show absolutely stinks; those 2 clowns can't even run a board and the station is consistently #1 in the book.

NO ADVERTISING= NO MONEY= NO REVENUE= NO $$ FOR THE SUITS..IT'S HISTORY... :'(

cool 92.9 is next....I'd be surprised if they didn't shoot the oldies format in the head...

I know, it is a terrific oldies station featuring the a voiceover announcer which is best known for New York City for many years on WCBS-FM. His name is Ziggy. He should go downhill if they could bring another voiceover from the "Oldies 97.7" days as well as the old "Cool 94.3" before it went country at the time Cumulus still has it. Ziggy does great sweepers on "Magic 100.9" when it's still another oldies station with the JAM's "Do It Again" jingle package made especially for WCBS-FM for years. As we said "Magic 100.9" beats WTRY to the punch. I think that "Cool 92.9" with Ziggy voiceovers should go down in history as soon as Pamal comes in. Will see!

The Wolf might as well be called Roadkill. They ARE nothing. They'll never BE anything. There are 3 stations at Pendell Road that mean nothing to Cumulus...Wolf, Mix and WRRV. As long as WPDH is doing well and Chuck's "Yes Men" at the other 3 stations (Yes Girl at Wolf) are behaving themselves, then Cumulus will be happy with the status quo. Fortunately Cumulus isn't getting their hands on 92.9. At least it might have a shot with Pamal of making it into something worth listening to.
