Enough with the commercials OXYGEN Network

Way too many commercials on the OXYGEN Network during the Roseanne Marathon. The 930 episode concluded then they ran some commercials. Then they ran the closing credits. Then they ran more commercials. Then the opening sequence of the next episode of Roseanne started at 10:06 followed by you guessed it - more commercials. The episode finally got underway at 1009.

Three words for you: D V R. I just about don't watch anything live anymore for this reason. Cable networks are loading up on their commercial breaks. The last time I watched TV Land, I counted a 6 minute break!

I don't understand the point of Oxygen at this point other than a placeholder. Obviously, Comcast/NBC makes more money having it in operation than folding it, but there is little to anything unique about this network. I'm sure Comcast must be wondering what to do with this network. Some original programming but original programming that's cheap reality TV intended just to keep the channel relevant and from the providers in refusing to carry the network.

Moving forward, I also bet that Comcast would prefer the Style channel to be it's female network, as Style was originally a Comcast channel anyways. Perhaps Comcast could retool Oxygen as Style 2. Ironically, Oxygen is somewhat the anti-Style with Roseanne reruns and shows like 'Bad Girls Club'.

OWN is very much like Oprah's O Magazine.
Fat full of ads with little content.

OWN is not related to Oxygen other than Oxygen once having Oprah's backing. Speaking of OWN, I read that it picked up reruns of 'Rachael Ray' and 'Nate Berkus' and OWN is airing them in the AM. Regarding Rachael Ray, the reruns of her show are airing the same time that the new episodes of her show is carried in many markets. I think it's bizarre and I could see some affiliates not too pleased with that, although OWN viewership is likely miniscule.

'Nate Berkus' reruns of a cancelled show likely has less appeal. Wouldn't it be better airing reruns maybe of shows like 'Kate & Allie', 'Love Boat', etc. than 'Nate Berkus' a cancelled talk show. I suppose Oprah figures it's cheaper.

OXYGEN is just another third-tier cable network and like many 2nd, 3rd tier cable channels (and even some 1st tier ones), it revolves around one or two "original" programs and filler that is readily available elsewhere. People have become wise to this fact and although cord cutter numbers are still small, there is enough of an impact that the Cable Monopolies are worried about their outdated business model.

re: cord cutting

My wife and I recently got rid of Dish. For local channels we have an over the air antenna and for other programs we have Netflix on Roku. Along with many other channels on Roku from BBC World News to Sky News to at least 5 pop and 2 country music video channels, we are never at a loss to watch something.

The reason I bring this up is all seasons of "Roseanne" are on Netflix. Ready to stream and commercial free.

Do I miss the Dish? Positively, unequivocally NO.

Re: OWN airing day-old Rachael Ray reruns in the same time slot as first-run Rachael Ray on OTA TV: A far cry from when Oprah demanded her friend Dr. Phil didn't air opposite her own show in the same market. And I know it's apples and oranges, but if TBS could only air "Married with Children" reruns in a 1-7 AM window because another network at the time (Nick or Spike) had exclusivity during peak hours, RR's producers are quite lenient.

I doubt OWN is listening, and I doubt any of us can do anything about it.
You've already seen all the episodes Marc. Time to move on man...
