Entercom and Payola

ENTERCOM COMMUNICATIONS has reached a settlement with NEW YORK STATE Attorney General (and Gov. Elect) ELIOT SPITZER to pay $4.25 million to end the investigation of the radio company for allegedly accepting gifts in exchange for airplay.

Thanks Mr. Eliot "I'm gonna a big name for myself" Spitzer. There goes my raise. :'(

I dunno, that seems like such a drop in the bucket for a big company like CC or Entercom. It's when the bad press hurts the stock price that these companies get antsy.

I wonder how the penalty will affect all the fined businesses. Will payola be swept under the rug once Spitzer moves into the Executive Mansion? He has made his point and become gov of NY.

$4+ million is a lot for any radio company these days. If the government really wants to find people guilty of accepting things in return for favors they need to look in their mirrors.
