Entercom & banning music

Entercom made it's point. David Field does not approve of domestic violence against women. That is fine and good, but that is no reason to keep Chris Brown off the air. Deuces is kicking ass at the urban stations. There is no reason that Entercom's CHR station should shut him out. Was Chris Brown ever even convicted of a crime? I know that Lil' Wayne was, and they don't seem to have a problem playing him.

I want to know how others feel about this.

Urban forgives quicker than CHR. I pulled Chris for quite a while, but when Deuces came out, we (as most other Urbans did) went out on a limb. He's got another big one out (on Urban) called No B.S.

I'm sure he will get back on Entercom at some point.

"Dueces" wasn't a CHR hit, though, so why would a CHR feel compelled to play it?

Deuces reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 (and Yeah 3X is currently at #22 and moving up rapidly). To say that it wasn't a CHR hit is obviously a statement made by a white consultant over the age of 50.

And where did "Deuces" fall on the chart that matter, the Mediabase Top 40 Airplay chart?

Ron is right, wasn't a hit. Yeah3x is a different story. #16 at CHR currently I believe

Since when did everything that charted on the Hot 100 REQUIRE CHR airplay?

Your statement of bias is obviously made by an African-American under the age of 40.

For the record, while I am caucasian, I'm only 36 - and guess what - I program a CHR (that by the way, plays "Yeah 3x" quite heavily). In fact, I'd say my playlist has a good bit skin pigment to it - not that it ever mattered. If it's a hit, we play it.

I am white (it's why I have the right to trash other white people), but it doesn't matter. Just please tell me how Deuces differs from CHR songs like "Anywhere" by 112? Is it because damnit you have been in programming since you were a board op at age 17 and "you just know what a hit song is"?

Just because a song is at #16 on the national charts doesn't make it a hit in every city, what about local requests/CD sales?

1. My skin tone has zero to do with my capabilities
2. If there were a "Chris Brown bias" with your beloved "Deuces," then why does "Yeah X3" not suffer from it, now?
3. I haven't been "in programming" since my first radio job, I've just been IN radio since I was 17, and yeah, guess what, I HAVE sort of gotten a BIT of a knack for knowing what does and doesn't work on a CHR in those nearly 19 years. What the hell have YOU done to convince yourself (or anybody else here) that you know better?
4. You used a song called "Anywhere" by 112 as your example of a "CHR song" to compare to? I'm sorry, but I, a CHR programmer, don't even REMEMBER that song, so I'm PRETTY sure it wasn't a CHR "hit," same as "Deuces."
