Entercom Boston Spot System Down?

Both WRKO and WEEI were without spots for at least part of the afternoon yesterday. What happened?

I think AD revenues are down sooooo low that no one is sponsoring weekends - they can't give the spots away.. Same problem at WCRN in Worcester where we are stuck playing the same 3 spots in every break... Diamond Auto / EW Mortgage / ISMH.com - making 3 bucks a stopset every day.. woo-hoo

Who cares? Really. Who cares?

Radio geeks and the sales team that has to sheepishly explain this and get make-goods whatever the hell they're going to do to make the real audience, that of the advertisers, happy.

rko is steadily declining. the morning show is heinous. im surprised wolfe hasnt gone called up money matters yet. they got good arbitron numbers for their subject matter and theyre paying for their time. finnerans time is up and its pretty much garbage. laura ingraham is not making matters any better. local is always going to be the key, especially now

Thanks for trying to derail the thread over the quality, or lack thereof, of WRKO. We've already got countless threads about it.

Anyway, I believe the entire Boston Entercom cluster was affected by this outage.

You think a top 5 station in a top 10 market can't sell ads on the weekend?

I'm not going to defend their programming (aside from the Sox and other sports that get shifted when WEEI has too much, and Money Talk of course, haha) but they are still pulling in fine ratings and I'm sure selling plenty of ads.

I'm sure it was a system issue.

Times are tough, but they aren't that tough....

When did this discussion turn to weekends? The OP was from 11/15, and referred to "yesterday," which would be 11/14...a Friday.

Of course, any thread about Entercom is sure to bring out in droves the sufferers of EDS...characterized by a form of Tourette's syndrome whenever WRKO is mentioned.
