Entercom cuts

@bostonradio and other sources say the WODS morning show is cut and there's the possibility of losing local sports talk at night and weekends in favor of CBS Sports Radio at WEEI FM.

Radioinsight tweet
Chris Booker departs KAMP Los Angeles mornings & The TJ Show ends at Amp Radio Boston as more Entercom cuts become known.

The WODS show is doing their goodbyes on air now

I can confirm that Nancy is no longer doing mid days, what I don't know is it permanent of just a furlough.

She has been doing mid days since 1982!

Not quite as long, but in Hartford Nancy Barrow who had been doing mornings on WZMX 93.7 for 22 years and three format changes is out. When she started WZMX was Classic Hits and they were had local shock jock Sebastian on in the morning and Nancy was brought in as his sidekick. That format evolved to Rock and Roll from from the 50s-98. They flipped to Jammin' Oldies (Dancin' Oldies as Infinity Broadcasting called it) and then 19 years ago Infinity flipped WZMX to Hip-Hop and they kept her on in the morning.

Does this mean that 103.3 is flipping formats? I really hate to see people being laid off in a scary time! This is wrong! The CEOs of these companies can certainty take a paycut to save employees to be honest they make a ton of money!

The CEOs are taking pay cuts. Some have given up salaries completely. It still won't be enough to make up for the loss of millions of dollars in advertising that disappeared.

I would imagine radio has had to cut their ad rates by quite the percentage even with those few still buying.
Can anyone confirm this ?

Will stations start giving up their broadcast rights for sports teams ?
This year the Sox and Patriots would not seem to command a premium and now with this ...

Nobody was interested in broadcasting the Oakland As. So they went internet only.

The real problem is that radio companies have already paid for the rights to this year's games, which have been canceled. And all the advertising that had been bought for those games is gone too. So how do radio companies get a refund? Here's an article about that:

The bad news for Boston was that the Bruins had a great year. Better than the Sox or Patriots.

I have not seen where David Field has taken any type of pay cut although he and his father are tens of millions underwater in the equity market.

And after his pay cut, he will still make around 800,000 a year. He should be able to eke out a living on that...

After massive layoffs, furloughs and making a large number of his people take paycuts of their own you'd think David Feild would be a real leader and take no salary until this is over like IHeart's CEO did.

30% is pathetic.

Of course, after Federal, State and City income taxes and FICA, nearly 60% of that goes to the government. So in a sense, he is contributing to the federal budget through his taxes.

There is more than one way to look at a lot of the issues troubling the nation today.

With CEO pay at an all time high in this country, it's hard to pity poor Mr. Field. He certainly isn't joining his fellow colleagues "On The Beach"...

You never know. Today the stock dropped to an all time low of 83 cents. This is a company his father started. If the stockholders lose confidence in leadership, he could be out too. Not that he's looking for your pity. He isn't. But in this current environment, no one's job is safe.
