ENTERCOM EMPLOYEES MOVING TO CLEAR CHANNEL WRNO??

FACTS are that newsman Richard and Jeff (probable entercoms best board op) have resigned and heading to WRNO.Appears CC is trying to lure everyone who is not under contract over to their greener pastures.looks like that switch to newstalk may be happening real soon.

talk at CC is let's raid the big wwl and see who we can snatch up..understand more will be making the switch including some VERY well know N>O> personalities.offers being made to those at the end of their contracts with entercom.and i understand the bucks will be
there to entice them..may even buy out some existing contracts.ALOT going on in the background at WRNO..

Maybe they'll really luck out and snatch up Entercom's franchise player Kaare ("The Louisiana Shrimp") Johnson.

Lets face it, anyone who is smart would stay where they were and not jump on the Clear Channel bandwagon, yeah the money is great, but consistancy is what should be looked for. Since when has Clear Channel flipped a station in New Orleans and it stay that format for a LONG period of time? Minus the urban stations, the last time I checked 104.1 has gone through 4 format/moniker flips in the last 6 years. Unless Clear Channel plans on pulling a U104.5 stunt and plaster everything noticeable then no one is going to give up on WWL, which is a household name in New Orleans. WWL is a fine-tuned station, it's going to take a BIG hit to take it down.

Other than 104.1, no other FM station in the current stable has flipped formats in CC ownership.... WRNO was the last to flip back to classic rock from the 70s in the mid 1990s.... WQUE has been urban since 1987 if I remember, WYLD has always basically been that format (at least since the 70s according to the "oldie kings website") WNOE has been country since 1980.. and 104.1 had a pretty good top 40 station going before it got blown up... hum

Actually CC needs to pay attention to what they got... Got 104 in 3 books at least (NOLA is unknown, but ratings in BR's (#7 and beating KRVE"the River") and (#18) in Lafayette which doesn't really receive a good signal beating another Baton Rouge station owned by CC (WFMF) in that market!!! But audio sucks, hour or more with no audio .. hell most would be calling 104 the lame duck that would be killed the way CC cares for it..

But I agree with duckie... The WWL call letters are engrained into people in this area for radio and TV and is going to be real hard to pull them away (as their one niche about being on FM got trumped by WWL a few months ago) and unless they want to advertise long haul and put up with the station for that long in losing ratings till they get a foothold...I dunno

Hey kids!!! Let's launch an FM talker!! Our first announced talent draw will be former mayoral candidate Rob Couhig in the morning? WWL, better hold onto your hats!!!
This market is not big enough for two FM talkers, unless they lure Howard Stern back to broadcast, to Jello-wrestle live on-air with Mancow, Opie and Anthony, it ain't gonna happen.
Soory 'RNO, you shouldv'e beaten Bayou to the punch when you still had a chance.
