All Access reported on Entercom programming exits in Seattle,
Kansas City and Buffalo.

Morning host at ALT Buffalo is out after less than 2 years.
Format has been a misfire.
January is often the time to thin the herd...

Wow, talk about misinformation. You got a personal beef with Entercom? I don't know the circumstances behind the Buffalo changes, but:
The KC PD left for family health reasons - not fired.
The Seattle exit wasn't a PD - it was the midday talent, leaving for a outside the industry job.

When writing such posts, I urge you to include a link to the information. Without the link, it's nothing more than gossip.

Thanks for your understanding.

The Buffalo story actually has a link to the job posting, so no "thinning the herd" either:

Can you speak to the Alt Family? Entercom Buffalo’s Alternative Buffalo 107.7|104.7 is looking for its next morning drive on-air host. What we are not looking for is a “Morning Show” full of bits, and jokes.

Alternative Buffalo is radio reimagined, and our next morning show host will be able to fit that mold. This position however, goes beyond delivering a great air shift…

Do you know the current state of alternative music inside and out? Do you have a love and a passion for the music that we play? Are you beyond active on social media? Can you go to a show on a Tuesday night, and still deliver a great shift on Wednesday morning? Do you have music scheduling experience?

We are looking for someone that can connect with The Alt Family.

If that’s you, we want to hear from you.

True, every situation can be different.
However, it's naive to deny that downsizing doesn't occur
in Radio.

Every job ad doesn't necessarily lead to a new hire.
That's reality...

Disinterest abounds. Why? Not to be snarky, but it's the demo. There's not much that Alt 107.7 offers on air there that 18-34's can't find or hear using a smart phone. It's also the competition: The Edge, Kiss and WYRK. Stations that play the hits.Alternative music and the bands/artists that populate the format are eminently forgettable and disposable, which is why they fall into the "Alternative" realm, which is rapidly approaching "Indie" status. The real alternative these days is Country. The fact is, only three formats on the 107.7 signal had a degree of success in ratings and revenue: The Bear (when 97 Rock was absent, and for a very short time, perhaps two books); Sports, during the Adelphia-Sabres era; and The Lake.

Sounds like a good move for her, and a good hire for Cumulus. Since Alt 107.7 appears to be a black hole, probably won't matter much to them. They're likely to save a little salary.

They let a "valuable asset" go to a direct competitor?
How magnanimous. Disinterest must abound...

Sounds like Entercom Buffalo is looking for exactly the right person for the audience they want to reach: authentic, into the music, frequent on social media, and out at shows. (Sounds sort of like album rock in the 70s, too.)

I would expect that's a pretty standard requirement for any talent in any format. No?

Non Compete clauses are common for talent.
Obviously wasn't the case here.

Is the clock ticking on "Radio Reimagined"..?

Non-compete clauses are illegal in NY. She was offered a better opportunity and she took it. Welcome to the world of radio. This time she doesn't need a U-Haul, or a new apartment.

107.7 has been a black hole since they gutted The Lake staff years ago and turned it into an mp3 player with one poor guy who had other duties running it. There were some really good people who put a lot of effort into what they did and it was really sad to see them go.

I haven't been on this board in years and nothing has changed. The people who don't understand radio at all call Alt Buffalo 107.7 a failure. We are very happy with the brand, the revenue and the huge concerts that we keep putting on. Our morning person got another offer and decided to move to another company. Since post term non competes are illegal in NY, she got the chance to go to a competitor. Bentley is a strong talent and we wish her the best. We tried to keep her. She decided to leave. No downsizing, we are looking to replace her and we will. The alternative format is very successful for Entercom in Buffalo, Portland, Seattle, San Diego, Miami. When you blame our GM for a castastrophic technical difficulty and call him cheap, you demonstrate your immaturity, and your lack of expertise. It wasn't something as simple as the power went out or we didn't have a backup. When you year after year call us stupid for the formats we program, it shows me you don't have any real insight into what this business is all about. I know a lot about what goes on here in Upstate NY with Entercom. If you want to question our choices of format that's fair. If you want to wonder why we went off the air, ask the engineers, but it wasn't because we are cheap. We just finished a HUGE upgrade to our offices and studios in Buffalo. We are spending money. We are doing our best. Michael Doyle - Regional President. Entercom.
