Entercom forecasts

Has Entercom dropped the AccuWeather forecasts for FOX Carolina's weathercasts? Noticed on 98.9 this afternoon it was the DJ reading it and they said "the FOX Carolina forecast on Magic 98.9." How about the other stations? Maybe it is an attempt to make the stations more localized sounding. CC gets theirs from WYFF, they claim.

Barnstable used FOX forecasts on their 3 before the sale.

and fox and wyff get their's from the national weather service. entercom has probably set up a trade agreement with fox and saying fox in their forecasts is part of the agreement. accuweather was probably a budget cut.

I don't watch WYFF regularly, but do they promote the CC stations?

I remember when Barnstable used Fox previously, they always advertised that you could hear their forecasts on Rock 101, 93.3 The Planet, or Oldies 106.3 with a logo...I'm assuming they will do the same with the entercom stations. you advertise us, we'll advertise you.

wyff runs "hear your super doppler forecast on." it is not just clear channel stations. i see asheville stations and wlfj too. the arrangement appears not to be owner exclusive. it is radio giving in to televisions so called credibility.

yes. i am sure that entercom is going to run foxs radio commercials during their sweep months free of charge in exchange for fox running entercom's tv ads free of charge during the ratings period.

So what does everyone think of the Fox forecasts?...

actually, I like it more than Accuweather -- the meterologists make it feel more more personal (being local) and it seems deeper the way they are talking about weather for local events, etc. Just sounds more "comfortable." Plus having the DJ commenting about the weather after it makes it sound really good. I notice 98.9 is also running weather overnights now.

Puts those so-called "WYFF forecasts" on CC to shame. They just seem shallow. Too bad they stopped the Weather Channel ones and giving the temp...oh wait, that's hard to do from Wichita, St. Louis, or while doing other duties in the building.

WMYI used to be on top of things with the Weather Channel. Not just better forecasts, including temps, but special updates with severe weather in the afternoons. Now, they miss the hourly forecast half the time.

i am not a fan of the weather channel or accuweather on the radio at all. all forecasts are recorded in advance. people get there weather from many sources. i think radio stations that do not air severe weather alerts are not really serving the public.

Seems the Fox forecasts are updated more than the Accuweather ones were, but maybe I'm not paying close enough attention. They definately provide more local insight to the weather and the DJ talking afterwards is good too (98.9 at least, the only Entercom station I really listen to). wasn't too big in to it in the first place, but actually I like this more.
