Entercom format change?

Is WNTR the next in a long line of Indpls format changes?

A little bird in Boston tells me that Entercom is speaking to on-air talent and programmers for a hip-hop gig in Indy. Any truth to this rumor ???

And Midwest Clubber rejoiced.

Whether or not this is a true rumor...I believe it has surfaced before.

Hard to say for sure, but it's very interesting. An ex-coworker of mine said he got a call in January about a new "Reggaeton" (Hispanic, Hip Hop, and Current Hits) format launching in Indy this Spring. He works at Jam'n 94.5 in Bean-town, but that's a Clear Channel station--not Entercom. Who knows? Wait and see I guess. (could't do much worse than the track has lately)

makes sense to me. entercom has been the fifth billing radio cluster in indy since buying into the market. hoover's group has come really close to number four which is traditionally radio one, but haven't been able to get past them.

with radio one dropping the light-billing smooth jazz format and replacing it with the intellectual property of radio now, coupled with a recent HUGE drop in the track's ratings, that gap is sure to widen. and top it off with the fantastic fall book for whhh which should send more business urban's way.

if entercom goes with some sort of rhythmic format on wntr, sands can try to chip off some of radio one's listenership and resulting billing. hartley can then combo sell 99.5 and 107.9 since both will target a younger audience and because with the current low ratings, the soon-to-be former track wouldn't be bought alone.

Why would they change format? They play "EVERYTHING"!!
So what are they gonna say... We went from playing Everything to playing Something?? :D

I actually like the Track & Hope they don't flip. But I guess it wouldn't surprise me based on their ratings and all the direct-response ads they run. They have to be hurting over there. Don't think I will leave them on my presets if they switch to hip-hop though. Geez, does that mean I'll have to add WARM now?? :-\

Mm-mm. WARM. Melty Velveta goodness slapped between 2 slices of Wonder lightly toasted with the crusts cut off. ;)

THAT WOULD BE A SMART MOVE BY ENTERCOM, SINCE EVERYBODY ELSE IS EITHER GOING COUNTRY CLASSIC ROCK OLDIES & REGIONAL MEXICAN

THEY COULD GO AFTER THE 2nD 3RD GENERATION LATINOS THAT LISTEN TO RADIONOW & HOT DUE A CHURBANA FORMATT

ONE STATION THAT CAN HELP YOU REACH AFRICANAMERICANS ANGLOS & LATINOS
LETS FACE IT A LOT OF THE NONSPANISH SPEAKING LISTENERS LIKE HIPHOP & REGGAETON

IF THEY PROGRAM IT RIGHT I BELIEVE IT WOULD WORK\
SOME HIPHOP R & B REGGAETON IT WOULD MAKE SOME NOISE IN INDY

THEY COULD HIRE AWAY PAUL B FROM HOT & PUT A BILINGUAL TALENT AGAINST JRIO FROM HOT

CC IS SELLING MEGA IN HOUSTON NO ESPANOL FOR CC IN TEXAS
MAYBE CC WILL DO SOME ESPANOL IN INDY??????????????????
