Entercom GM

I'm surprised there's nothing on here about Jennifer Skjodt getting the Entercom gig.

What's her background other than what was stated in the presser? Will she have a positive effect on the stations?

What's the buzzzzzzzzzzz?

She's a class act. I always thought she was very fair and worked hard to create a fun working environment. My friends at Entercom are lucky to have her.

Is she married to a hockey player?

Not that it matters about her personal life, but I believe she is married to Paul Skjodt, who is the president of the USHL's Indiana Ice.

No, I think she's married to Paul's brother Charlie, who's the president of the team. Paul is married to Cindy Simon of the Simon Mall, Pacers, etc... family.

I knew I was close, but I apologize for the error.

Agreed, her personal life is her business, but the name Skjodt is not very common around here. I've only heard it with a hockey connection in the past.

"Oldies" on 107.9 anyone? My prediction is baseless, other than the fact that the new Market Manager was the last GM at KLU, and prior to this was the Station Manager at Susquehanna's WGLD while it was successful. Makes you go "hhhmmm..." [at least it makes me go hhmmm....]

Quit being so nostalgic for the good ol days, mouseman.

you can't say "Good ol days" without saying the word.... GOOD!
its time for some GOOD.... Radio again.
lets face it "The Track" has been a dismal failure, the smartest thing to do is Co-Opt the KLU audience and get a boost right now...
its ALL GOOD!

Oh, that's not nostalgia creeping in RDO. Of all the recent management changes in the market, Jennifer could make the most impact...to Entercom's bottom line. she has the sales foundation to push these properties forward successfully. I think she'll also question whether all their formats have a ability to be monetized successfully, and Oldies is an obvious format "hole" in the market that she knows a thing or two about.

I personally care less one way or the other about the format - I just think with her hire the whole operation is up for grabs.

if she wants to make a statement like "Hey i've arrived, and things are going to change" i can't think of a better way to turn things around quickly.

A fresh coat of paint on any format can be shot in the arm to the sales staff. Even if it is the wrong shade of white - anything that can be packaged as "new, exciting, potentially better and bigger" - is a reason to go make some sales calls. Oldies formats can take on a unique life of their own...with more listener loyalty than whatever 107.9 is playing right now.

If they want to make waves, then they have to get a better airstaff. The people they have now won't cut it.

DITTO to both of you! i will be amazed if she & corporate doesn't turn the track around, if she doesn't, what good is she?

If their corporate people had wanted to "turn it around", why wouldn't they have done it some time ago? There was a rumour that they were very close to pulling the trigger & flipping to some sort of urban leaning format a year or 2 ago.

Nothing worse in my opinion that a new GM or PD who starts changing things simply for the sake of change. To "put his or her stamp on the place."

It's my hope that Ms. Skojdt will take stock, identify the problems where they truly are and fix them. If the sales staff needs a "reason" to make sales calls then she needs a new sales staff. Tweeks are inevitable but wholesale change just to give the place a "shot in the arm", well that would be patchwork management at it's best.

Good luck to all involved over on Meridian.

I wouldn't expect her to walk in and start making programming changes. My understanding is that at Susquehanna she was strictly a sales oriented GM, surrounded by good programming people like Charlie Morgan, David Wood and Bob Richards, and she wisely let them make the programming calls. Anyway, good luck to all at Entercom.

to "Change" things without a reason is insane... BUT, there are plenty of REASONS to change some things over there like the fact that there isn't ONE winner in the entire cluster! and a GIANT formatic hole just opened up. WHO will be wise enough to fill it?

I wouldn't call oldies a "giant formatic hole", but if they decide to try a similar formula I'll bet you they won't call it "Oldies". The format may not be dead but that moniker is.
