entercom handing out the axe?

is it true? i heard a rumor entercom was about to clean house. i dunno about andy holt dying of some std's, but they may have let him go. ???
i think mike kaplan and the rest of the gang are about to say adios! it was brought to my attention that he was on wezb this afternoon. i didnt care to hear him actually. is he filling in for fired dj's? comments???

I've heard Mitchell is gonna be history in a few more days at contract time, and Kaplan right along side. And that just starts the snowball going downhill. Entercom is top heavy with deadwood salaries anyway so this comes as no surprise.

No surprise indeed as Entercom has been passing out salary money like raindrops, and now suddenly the market and potential for advertising revenue is a fraction of what it was when the Entercom Santa Claus first came to town. Most other outfits are trimming to the bones and Entercom continues to throw money like they're on a Mardi Gras float to their bloated-roster underachieving goats.

The party's apparently over.

According to T-Pot's (Tierza) bio, she and Stevie B. were scheduled to be wed this past Saturday. Interesting that she makes light of her impending wedding and not one word about it in his bio on the B97 website. Maybe they're off on a honeymoon? What happens if one of them gets axed by Kaplan? It would prove to be a sticky situation. She has more talent than her would-be husband.

stevie B. or G. or D.B......... whatever! he's a would be,...... could be,.......... shouldn't be ::) :p he must be THE lamest person there. "stevie and kaplan you are the weakest links. goodbye!"

They'll be the first to tell you they are a gift to the radio gawds. One day Entercom may realize they are throwing money out the window of their beat up building. Why wait until the first of the year to cut their overpaid, corporate puppets? David Field could save two weeks pay and clean house when he lights the last candle for Chanukah.

Liberals don't fire Liberals. So Mike won't be going anywhere. Entercom might be considering moving him to Texas though... Here's one question. WHY IS WWL PLAYING ON THREE DIFFERENT RADIO STATIONS ???

Today they were promoting 1350 as "WWL On-Demand". How's that work? Can I demand they take some of these crappy shows and hosts off the air?

Someone needs to tell WWL that "On Demand" is when I want to listen to them . . . not when they air the show. I'm really surprise WWL doesn't put their shows online so people can listen whenever they feel like it. Substituting(sp?) Air America for WWL-AM "On Demand when we tell people to listen to" sounds like something that should be online in postcast form and not a radio station. And with the Democrats taking over Congress and the House of Representitives, I'm surprised Entercom dropped Air America, even though AAR is extremely horrible to listen to (personalities, not the content)

Just my 2 cents,
Greg

First of all Air America is bankrupt, on life support, and about to have the plug pulled. I'm not a fan of bush I would hear more bush bashing on air america than Rush bashing about Dems. I think Entercom is trying to raise listenership and raitings for WSMB any way they can.

It's starting to sound desperate at Entercom. Any other corporate giant have one station on three different frequencies in one market? I can understand WWL-FM but on a second AM? Hell, just make it Cory Johnson 24/7, that's where he started. Ooops, can't do that because Monday he's starting at WIST doing talk in the afternoon. Why the move? Nevermind, he must have gotten tired of the news gawd's (Dave Cohen) BS.

Speaking of the "On-Demand" BS spin, how about on the Saints broadcast. Hokie's scoreboard brought to by "Saints-radio-network.com" which simply directs people to WWL.com. Mislead the listeners, bright move!

Maybe Lockport could go the way of Clark, Texas. They changed the city name to Dish and everyone got satellite for life. Time to call Mayor Richard Champagne and get him to work a deal with Sirius Satellite cause there's nothing to listen to!

Anyone find it interesting that Air America gets dumped the day after the Dems take over Congress? Is this really a political statement by Entercom?

Not really. The ratings in nol aren't there and obviously nobody listens to it anywhere else...AAR is failing.

All on demand to them is probably airing the content a few hours later.. Haven't heard 1350 yet.

But air america was probably pulled due to financing of the mother ship and that advertisers are starting to leave air america (or at least 100 companies don't want to be heard)

My guess is, it's a place holder till they figure out what to put on (with all the news that's supposed to be on , they could always join in on the country music chase :)

Unless WSMB gets out from WWL's shadow It will proablly stay in limbo. I wonder if the Voodoo will still be broadcast when they restart operations in the AFL.

They do need to get rid of Kaplin if that is the Program Director is there. He has got to be from Texas or something like that because there are so many radio stations in Texas it does not matter what you play or if you play the same song again and again.. Im sick of hearing the same ole stuff on B97 and on Bayou .. I have now turned in to a physchic, Its getting old .. old old.... Im very enthused that there is another REAL ROCK station on the air now. Granit I love the old rock but the doobie brothers come on. I can finally open my ears and let the music in. Im geting rid of my XM today..New Orleans needs this type of music..
